Job description

14798 - Principal Substation Engineer (remote option) - Juno Beach, FL
Start Date: ASAP
Type: Temporary Project
Estimated Duration: 12 months with possible extensions
Work Setting: Onsite and Remote option. With some travel required within North America.

Our Client is hiring a Principal Substation Engineer (onsite) 20647
Required:
• Availability to work 100% of the time at the Client's site in Juno Beach, FL.
• Experience in Substation design and engineering of High Voltage substation projects (6+ years).
• Experience with Renewable generation substation project execution from conception through commissioning.
• Experience with FERC Order 1000 competitive transmission project proposals.
• Experience with Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) standards.
• Experience with National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
• Experience with American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) standards.
• Experience with Interconnection studies (system impact, facility, reactive and harmonic).
• Experience in Project scheduling, estimating, and budget management.
• Valid driver's license.
 
Preferred:
• Project Engineering and/or Project Management experience.
• Certified Professional Engineer (PE), Six Sigma Black Belt Certified, Six Sigma Green Belt Certified, Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified, Project Management Professional (PMP).
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering.
Responsibilities:
• Lead all assigned renewable generation substation projects from conception (Early Stage) through construction and commissioning (Execution).
• Work with the Early-Stage Project Manager to support engineering requirements and scope with the Development Group during the conceptual phase.
• Plan, coordinate, and complete large-scale or several medium/small, complex, or long-term projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines.
• Develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports.
• Secure required resources and use formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks, and changes.
• Conduct project meetings and manage project tracking and analysis, identifying issues, measuring and validating results, and implementing solutions.
• Create and communicate presentation materials for report-outs and updates with various levels of internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
• Manage all assigned substation projects from conception (Early Stage) through construction and commissioning (Execution).
• In the conceptual phase, work with the Early-Stage Project Manager to support the engineering requirements and scope with the Development Group.
• Provide training, due diligence, and technical oversight of external engineers of record (EOR) for all assigned substation projects to ensure compliance with required generation interconnection agreements, scope of work documents, project specifications, site specific design requirements, IEEE, NESC, ASCE and all other applicable industry codes and standards.
• Secure engineering consulting resources from a list of approved suppliers by developing a scope of work, securing bids, evaluating, and awarding work through the Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) Group.
• Coordinate with other project stakeholders to develop and secure a substation site, support any engineering updates, data and permits necessary to design and build the substation.
• Competitively source, select and contract geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction services, and support the E&C Cost Estimating Team with scope assumptions.
• Coordinate with other groups to ensure that the assigned E&C substation projects are successful, including representing E&C's internal and external interests on assigned projects and presenting/briefing on current progress, issues, and risk mitigation in meetings with various levels of management.
