Job description

Equipment Operator

Location: Reno, NV or Rio Vista, CA

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the maintenance and safe operation of the bulk truck including the vehicle, hoses, cam-locks, and blower/compressor equipment. This position is also responsible for the job rig-up and rig-down and for operating the bulk truck in coordination with the cement pump operator for the mixing and pumping of cement slurries. Additionally, the position is responsible for vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspections, for identifying and reporting repair and maintenance needs, and for keeping the vehicle and equipment in a clean and organized condition.

Salary Range: $23.00 - $32.38

Essential Functions

  • Operate DOT tractor trailer in a safe manor
  • Operate Bulk Equipment as directed by supervisor in charge
  • Participate in job rig up and rig down activities to include lifting, carrying, and makeup of flow iron consisting of pipe, valves, swivels, and hoses, and frequent utilization of hand tools including sledgehammers and pipe wrenches
  • Participate in monthly/regular safety meetings
  • Assist pump operators, bulk plant operators, and mechanics with general equipment maintenance and repair tasks
  • Assist bulk plant operators with loading of cement in preparation for jobs
  • Frequently operate a forklift around the yard and warehouse
  • Work with other team members and third-party agents to ensure safe and efficient operations
  • Must keep work areas clean
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays when necessary
  • Must be able to work overtime as required
  • Must be able to pass DOT drug screens and random drug alcohol screenings per policy
     

Other Responsibilities

  • Education, Experience, and Skills Required
  • The ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the areas of assignment as would be acquired in three to four years of high school
  • Must have CDL (Class A License)
  • Must have 2 years of DOT Class A truck driving experience
  • Live within 100 miles of home terminal (Rio Vista, Ca)
  • Oilfield Truck Driving experience a plus
  • Forklift certified preferred
  • Haz Mat CDL endorsement preferred
  • Must be able to understand and follow safe working practices
  • Must be able to use and acquire knowledge of a variety of computer software applications with regard to driver logs and pre trip post trip logs
  • Must have the ability to read, write and speak English at a level that will permit the employee to understand and communicate information in a manner that will enable the employee to safely and efficiently perform the job duties
  • Must possess at any time a valid driver's license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT's auto insurance carrier
     

Physical Requirements

  • The ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Must be able to climb stairs, work off of elevated platforms, in severe weather conditions and in confined spaces
  • Job requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time with moderate bending, stooping, and kneeling
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, including safety shoes and earplugs
