As the pricing leader for Group Benefits and Pet, you will lead enterprise pricing strategy and execution across three distinct product lines-Group Health, Nationwide Pet, and Specialty Insurance. You'll guide a high-performing pricing organization to craft innovative, market-responsive strategies while aligning with business objectives and regulatory standards. Your role is critical in shaping competitive positioning and long-term financial outcomes, requiring you to influence senior leadership, connect insights to action, and deliver pricing solutions that support profitable growth and an exceptional customer experience.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the pricing function for Group Health, Nationwide Pet, and NSI - Establish pricing strategies and rate plan direction that support profitable growth, competitive positioning, and business objectives.

  • Oversee development of pricing and analytical tools - Drive creation of rate indications, pricing models, segmentation analyses, and profitability studies to inform pricing decisions across assigned businesses.

  • Monitor portfolio performance and lifecycle results - Assess post-launch risk, return, and product results; recommend pricing or product actions to improve long-term performance.

  • Partner across the organization to convert insights into action - Work with business, finance, underwriting, actuarial, analytics, and technology leaders to translate actuarial insights into actionable recommendations.

  • Influence governance and strategic decisions - Counsel leadership on balancing growth, profitability, risk, and capital, and support approvals for significant pricing and product decisions.

  • Evaluate and mitigate risk - Identify and assess risk mitigation, reinsurance, regulatory, and financial reporting implications associated with pricing strategies and product changes.

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team - Provide leadership across recruiting, performance management, and talent development to deliver on key pricing priorities.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to VP, CFO - Group Benefits. Manages 4-6 direct reports with approximately 45 indirect reports.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in actuarial science, advanced analytics, business, finance, mathematics, economics, or related field with strong quantitative orientation; graduate degree preferred.

License/Certification/Designation:FSA and MAAA designations preferred.

Experience: Typically 10+ years of related experience (pricing, actuarial, product, advanced analytics) with prior management experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

Ability to attract, hire, and develop strong talent. Strong communication skills to build and defend business cases and provide executive-level recommendations. Ability to explain actuarial and analytical concepts clearly. Foundational knowledge of modern technology and actuarial tools with experience implementing advanced modeling.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager's leader and Human Resource Business Partner.
