Starting Pay*: $67,339 - $81,474(GS-09/11)

Resume alignment to Job Description will determine initial salary grade. Promotion to the full performance level or any intermediate level is contingent upon meeting time-in-grade, experience requirements, successful completion of training requirements, and demonstration of acquisition of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed at the higher level.

The Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC) is a modern manufacturing facility that occupies a 17-acre site at the Philadelphia Navy Yard with more than 750,000 square feet of industrial and administrative floor space. NFPC employs a highly skilled and versatile workforce of engineers, trades people and support personnel who specialize in advanced engineering, castings, and precision machining.

Serves as the Electronic Industrial Controls instructor with the responsibility of developing, maintaining, and facilitating various levels of knowledge, skills, and abilities training, for mechanics, support personnel, and apprentices, that utilizes shop training tools in spaces such as mock-ups, in-shop work areas, or facility classrooms.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensures the assigned training program(s) are implemented and delivered in compliance with Bureau policies, Department of Labor, and Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training regulations, and the standards established by other certifying agencies and organizations.
  • Executes curriculum design, training, and record-keeping systems to plan, communicate, develop, implement, and track student progress through identified classroom and/or on-the-job training within a trade’s qualification cards or other trade training plans, and by supervisor direction.

Qualifications Required for the Position

  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of identifying, testing, repairing, and replacing electronic components and parts, such as: resistors, capacitors, transistors, diodes, integrated circuits, regulated power supplies, relays, switches, motor drive controls, solid-state circuitry, programmable controllers, and microprocessors.
  • Possesses an in-depth working knowledge of, but not limited to, the following in order to facilitate technical instruction in various subjects pertaining to electrical safety, program policies, and operating procedures: Chapter 250 OSHE Control Manual for Hazardous Energy Control, Chapter 231 OSHE Control Manual for Portable Electric Hand Tools, Chapter 230 OSHE Control Manual for Electrical Safety, and 29 CFR 1915.89 Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tags-Plus)
