Motorcycle Safety RiderCoach / Basic RiderCourse Coaches
Job Summary
The Detroit Metro Motorcycle Safety Consortium offers comprehensive, hands-on motorcycle safety education and training in a safe and comfortable environment. Our classes are taught by professional, certified coaches who have not only a passion for riding but riding safety. Our primary goal is to improve the safety of motorcyclists on our roads.
Schoolcraft College's Motorcycle Safety Program is currently looking for qualified candidates to join our team of RiderCoaches. Motorcycle Safety RiderCoaches are responsible for student safety and delivering effective coaching during on-cycle instructional periods. Coaches evaluate training and initiate appropriate corrective action, fulfill course and activity reporting, and are lead ambassadors for community outreach. Coaches collaborate, promote, and deliver public information, awareness, and community outreach, providing an exceptional customer service experience to both internal and external customers.
This position delivers and teaches motorcycle safety courses using the approved MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) curricula, following established policies and procedures. Coaches are responsible for providing an active, student-centered learning environment, empowering students to confidently demonstrate course competencies.
Job Duties
  1. Deliver and teach motorcycle safety courses, using the approved Motorcycle Safety Foundation curriculum.
  2. Responsible for student safety and coaching during on-cycle instructional periods.
  3. Evaluate training and initiate appropriate corrective action.
  4. Complete and maintain course and activity reporting.
  5. Lead ambassadors for community outreach.
  6. Collaborate, promote, and deliver public information, awareness, and community outreach, providing an exceptional customer service experience to both internal and external customers.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  1. High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  2. Must possess and maintain a current, valid motorcycle endorsement.
  3. Maintain a current and valid Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) certification.
  4. Be an active motorcyclist with considerable street-riding experience.
  5. Ability to correctly and safely demonstrate the full range of motorcycle functions as outlined in the course including but not limited to, mounting and dismounting the motorcycle and range ride demonstrations.
  6. Familiarity and experience working with diverse populations.
  7. Ability to stand for prolonged periods.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Associates / Bachelor degree.
  2. A demonstrable commitment to all aspects of motorcyclist safety and motorcycle safety education.
  3. Previous teaching experience.
  4. Demonstrate an ethical leadership style with a strong commitment to inclusiveness, collaboration, and teamwork across all levels of the consortium.
  5. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  6. Flexibility within the working environment.
