The Wethersfield Public Schools partner with the community and families in fostering our students' ongoing education in a safe and engaging learning environment. We have an opening for a School Nurse at the parochial school in the district for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. To fill this opening, we are looking for a motivated and dedicated professional with superior communication skills to fill this critical opening in our schools.
Position: School Nurse
School: Corpus Christi Catholic School
Reports To: Building Principal, Director of Special Services, and Nurse Supervisor
Start Date: August 2026
Compensation: $54,309-$67,630 (Full-Time annual)
Work Schedule: 7:15am-2:45pm (Monday - Friday) (188 days)

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a member of the school team as the designated health professional, (e.g. Planning and Placement Team, 504 Team, Crisis Team);
  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive, well-organized records, logs, surveys, and reports in keeping with requirements of the State of Connecticut, and policies of the Wethersfield Board of Education;
  • Confer with parents, students, teachers, support staff and other professionals to interpret health and developmental assessments; Monitor students with special needs for the purpose of maintaining them in the school setting;
  • Supervise compliance with Connecticut State mandated physical examinations and immunization requirements;
  • Coordinate the administration of prescribed medications and treatments for students in school and/or school sponsored activities; Responsible for training designated staff in medication administration, health records, and other health related issues;
  • Provide health care treatment and/or emergency services to injured or ill students and staff;
  • Assist families as necessary in obtaining a medical home, HUSKY state health insurance, needed immunizations, dental care or other health related needs;
  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled and perform other nursing duties or professional tasks as required.
  • Perform other nursing duties and professional responsibilities consistent with the position and the mission of Corpus Christi Catholic School.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following key characteristics on the job:
  • Ability to diagnose and provide appropriate health care services;
  • Enthusiasm for helping children;
  • Respectful attitude in working with students, families and staff;
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications:
  • Valid RN license from the CT State Department of Health;
  • Minimum of BS degree in Nursing;
  • Two or more years of nursing experience (prefer at least one year dealing with children);
  • Valid CPR certification.
