ABOUT THE POSITION

The Equipment Operator plays a critical role in the efficient movement of goods throughout the warehouse by operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other heavy equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and experience working in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

 RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Safely operate forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, and other material handling equipment to move products throughout the warehouse.
  • Efficiently load and unload delivery trucks, ensuring proper placement of goods and safe handling of materials.
  • Assist with inventory control by scanning, counting, and tracking items using handheld devices or warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and coworkers. Conduct regular equipment inspections and report any malfunctions or safety hazards.
  • Transport materials to designated storage areas, ensuring optimal organization of goods for easy retrieval.
  • Confer and correspond with management to rectify problems, such as damage, shortages, and nonconformance to storage specifications.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the equipment and work areas, removing debris and hazardous materials as needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks, and order pickers is required.
  • Valid forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification through company training.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations and equipment safety.
  • Ability to use warehouse management systems (WMS) or similar inventory tracking software.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in task completion.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs) as needed.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The work environment is fast paced.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have the ability to frequently stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, feel or grasp objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; kneel, crouch, talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move/carry light to medium weights of 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
