Job description

Job Summary:
The Generac Generator Service Technician will test /troubleshoot Generac systems, continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Perform inspections, preventive maintenance service, troubleshooting, repairs, and emergency service on Generac Air-Cooled 10-26KW generators.
  • Access and accurately identify all defective parts to be ordered.
โ€ข Understanding of combustion, gaseous air-cooled engines.
โ€ข Communicate information to customers and factory support team in an accurate, factual, and courteous manner.
  • Ensure work scope has been performed and generator is operational.
  • Write clear and concise service reports.
  • Other Duties as assigned by supervision.

Required Skills/Abilities:
โ€ข Ability to replace batteries, filters and generator components as needed, per the manufacturer recommendations.
โ€ข Must have own mechanics and electrical tools including meters. (Specialty tools provided by company).
โ€ข Must be able to be on-call for emergency services.
โ€ข Must be a self-starter, work unsupervised and alone.
โ€ข Must be able to work in loud environments.
โ€ข Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
โ€ข Proficient in electrical systems diagnostic equipment.
โ€ข Excellent mechanical skills.
Education and Experience:
โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent required.
โ€ข 2-5 years of field experience and knowledge of Generac air-cooled generators maintenance & repair, including automatic transfer switches.
โ€ข Generac Factory Certifications a plus.
โ€ข Current commercial driver's license (CDL) and clean driving record required.
Physical Requirements:
โ€ข Able to climb utility poles and work at great heights.
โ€ข Physically able to work with heavy tools and equipment at heights.
โ€ข Must be able to lift 70 pounds at a time to carry heavy cable.
