Quality Engineer


Location: Elk Grove Village, IL

Position Overview

High-precision aerospace machining company is seeking a Quality Engineer to support quality systems, customer requirements, corrective actions, and inspection activities within a high-mix, low-volume aerospace machining environment.


This role will work closely with manufacturing, engineering, inspection, and customers to resolve quality issues, improve processes, and ensure complex machined components meet all drawing and customer requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate internal and customer quality issues and lead root-cause and corrective-action efforts.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, inspection results, and customer requirements.
  • Support first-article inspections and prepare required quality documentation.
  • Work with manufacturing and engineering to reduce scrap, rework, and recurring defects.
  • Manage nonconforming material and support MRB activities.
  • Respond to customer corrective-action requests and quality concerns.
  • Support process improvements, risk reviews, and new-product launches.
  • Develop inspection plans, control plans, and quality procedures.
  • Analyze quality data and identify trends requiring corrective action.
  • Support internal, customer, and certification audits.
  • Maintain compliance with aerospace quality-system requirements.


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of quality engineering experience
  • Experience with CNC-machined components and tight-tolerance parts.
  • Strong understanding of root cause, corrective action, nonconformance, and process improvement.
  • Experience completing first-article inspection documentation.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and understand geometric tolerancing.
  • Familiarity with CMM inspection and standard precision measuring equipment.
  • Strong written communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field preferred; equivalent manufacturing quality experience will be considered.
