1st Shift, Monday - Friday 07:00 AM - 03:30 PM
As an Inspector II, you will be responsible to ensure purchased parts, assemblies, accessories and materials conform to specifications, using precision measuring instruments and devices. You'll also examine items for defects in materials, workmanship and damage occurring during transit. What you'll do on a typical day:
  • Inspect incoming or disposition material to align with approved documents, based on statistical sampling
  • Understand the Non-Conforming Event (NCE) system and generate NCEs for non-conformances
  • Identify and segregate non-conforming materials for incoming inspections including setup for sorts and reworks; move non-conforming material to designated area by operating a pallet jack for heavy items
  • Perform part history reviews and First Article inspections
  • Review vendor-supplied documentation, inspection results and inspected material acceptability
  • Assist with tracking work completion; assist with NCE failure investigations, develop action plans and perform effectiveness verifications
  • Maintain compliance to all quality requirements; adhere to the 7S program and quality policy
  • Participate on the team to ensure contract goals and objectives are met

What you need to succeed at GXO:
At a minimum, you'll need:
  • 1 year of experience in quality assurance or auditing in a distribution, manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Ability to read/understand drawings and related quality procedures; experience working with calibrated measuring instruments
  • Basic skills using electrical and mechanical measurement tools
  • Ability to read and write legibly
  • Ability to interpret specifications to ensure product conformance of mechanical, optical and electrical components
  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide)

It'd be great if you also have:
  • Associate or technical degree
  • Experience working with ISO9001; ability to initiate the corrective action process for receivables
  • 3 years of experience as a receiving inspector, including measuring components to drawing specs
  • Certified Mechanical Inspector (CMI) and Certified Quality Technician (CQT), or industry equivalency in years of experience as quality inspector/technician (with documentation)
  • Ability to demonstrate use of digital, dial and Vernier calipers, inside and outside micrometers, and depth and height gauges
