Job description

Overview

Join Virginia Housing and help make a difference as an Education and Training Officer in our Community Outreach Division.

We are seeking a proactive and motivated professional who is passionate about adult education, community, and partner engagement. This important role is responsible for facilitating partner training initiatives and consumer education classes and programs to expand statewide access to housing education to the communities we serve. The Officer performs high-level project management, program oversight, and contributes to curriculum updates, revisions, and new content development. The role facilitates both in-person and virtual classes, staffs the Virginia Housing exhibit table at events, conducts public speaking engagements, and participates in additional outreach initiatives, as needed.

The Officer maintains strong relationships with external partners, providing professional customer service and technical assistance, to non-profit organizations, local, state, and federal governing bodies, and other interested parties. 

Travel is a requirement of the position, up to 20%. Overnight stay and occasional weekend travel may be required.

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, relevant work experience.
  • Experience building strong working relationships with community organizations, non-profits, financial institutions, colleges, and workforce programs. 
  • Knowledge of different video conferencing platforms.
  • Strong facilitation and public speaking skills with the ability to present to varied audiences.
  • A broad understanding of regulations governing consumer rights and responsibilities.
  • Experience using the Cvent Event Platform to coordinate registrations and create training events.
  • Experience in creating high-quality PowerPoint presentations for instructional use.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills  
  • Strong collaboration, partnership building, and networking skills. 
  • The ability to work independently, take initiative, and identify opportunities to improve programs and processes.
  • This position requires incumbents to drive for Virginia Housing business purposes. Therefore, incumbents must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and adhere to the standards set forth in the motor vehicle related Administrative Regulations and Human Resources policies as a condition of continued employment.

The ideal candidate would also have a working knowledge of low and moderate housing programs and experience with program planning and project management, from concept through to implementation.  HUD Housing Counseling Certification preferred.

Hiring Range: $71,000 - $96,500
