Job description

We are currently seeking an Energy & Environmental Litigation Attorney to join our Baton Rouge office. This position is available to both attorneys seeking a partnership track and experienced attorneys interested in a reduced hour staff attorney schedule.
We are looking for a candidate with 3+ years of litigation experience, ideally with exposure to energy, environmental, or complex commercial litigation. This role offers the opportunity to manage sophisticated litigation matters, work directly with clients, and collaborate with an experienced litigation team while building a long-term practice in one of the region's premier energy-focused law firms.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage a litigation caseload independently from initial case assessment through resolution.
  • Handle all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, court appearances, motion practice, trial preparation, and case management.
  • Communicate directly with clients, providing strategic advice, meaningful case updates, and exceptional client service.
  • Collaborate closely with partners and litigation team members on complex energy and environmental litigation matters.
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, memoranda, and other litigation documents.
  • Develop litigation strategies that align with client objectives while managing matters efficiently.
  • Build and maintain strong client and referral relationships while contributing to the continued growth of the practice.
  • Work effectively within a collaborative, fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Louisiana.
  • Minimum 3 years of litigation experience, with energy and environmental litigation experience preferred.
  • Experience independently managing litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Strong experience handling pleadings, discovery, depositions, court appearances, and client communications.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
  • Outstanding academic credentials, professional references, and demonstrated record of achievement.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build lasting client relationships.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in business development and expanding client and referral relationships.
  • Ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of complex litigation matters.
