Montgomery's is currently looking for a detail-oriented individual to join our Drapery Workroom team in our Sioux Falls location.

Key Responsibilities
The Custom Drapery Seamstress/Seamster is responsible for fabricating high-quality custom window treatments that meet our customers' design specifications and Montgomery's standards of craftsmanship. Working closely with the Drapery Workroom Supervisor, this position ensures each project is completed accurately, efficiently, and with exceptional attention to detail.

Below is an outline of key duties:

  • Review work orders, measurements, and design specifications with the Window Treatment Manager.
  • Organize and prepare fabrics, linings, trims, hardware, and other materials needed for each project.
  • Measure, cut, sew, and assemble custom draperies, valances, Roman shades, and other window treatments.
  • Inspect completed products to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to design specifications.
  • Perform alterations or adjustments as needed to ensure the highest level of craftsmanship.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area.
  • Properly care for sewing machines, cutting equipment, and other workroom tools.
  • Track project progress and communicate any concerns or production delays to the Window Treatment Manager
  • Assist with other fabrication projects and workroom duties as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow team members to promote teamwork and deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while sewing and assembling products.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and perform repetitive hand movements throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely operate sewing machines, cutting tools, and other workroom equipment.
