Job description

Kforce has a client in Washington, DC that is seeking a Director of Disaster Finance Response to lead financial operations and oversight for disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and relief efforts. This role is responsible for financial planning, funding management, compliance, reporting, and strategic decision-making to ensure effective deployment of resources during emergency events. Key Responsibilities: Lead financial planning and management for disaster response and recovery programs Oversee budgeting, forecasting, funding allocation, and expense tracking Manage federal, state, local, grant, and donor-funded disaster relief resources Ensure compliance with funding requirements, regulations, and reporting standards Develop financial reports, dashboards, and executive-level presentations Monitor expenditures, identify financial risks, and implement corrective actions Support reimbursement processes and disaster-related grant administration Collaborate with emergency management, operations, and external stakeholders Establish financial controls, policies, and procedures for disaster operations Lead financial analysis, scenario planning, and resource allocation decisions Direct and mentor finance teams supporting disaster response activities Support audits, compliance reviews, and post-disaster financial assessments Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field 8+ years of finance, grants management, emergency management, nonprofit, government, or disaster response experience Experience managing large budgets, funding sources, and financial reporting Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and financial controls Advanced proficiency with Excel and financial management systems Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills Preferred Qualifications: CPA, MBA, or related professional certification preferred Experience with FEMA, federal grant, or disaster recovery funding programs Knowledge of emergency management and disaster recovery operations Skills: Budgeting & Forecasting Disaster Recovery Finance Grants Management Financial Reporting Compliance & Audit Support Risk Assessment Strategic Planning Cash Flow Management Stakeholder Management Team Leadership Process Improvement Advanced Excel & Financial Systems The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future. We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave. Note: Pay is not considered compensation until it is earned, vested and determinable. The amount and availability of any compensation remains in Kforce's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified in its discretion consistent with the law.
