Job description

Salary: $38 - $42 per hour

Genesis Contracting is a Class A General Contractor based in Central Virginia, specializing in new homes, renovations, and remodeling. Employees receive 23 paid days off per year (184 hours), equal to more than 4 full weeks of paid time away from work:

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong framing skills: new homes, additions, structural layout
  • Proficient with TJI, LVLs, beams, and Weyerhaeuser Framer Series lumber
  • Able to build stick-framed roofs, set engineered trusses, and execute cornice work
  • Window and door installation (new and replacement) to manufacturer specs
  • Solid planning, sequencing, and problem-solving
  • Calm, professional crew leadership
  • Ability to mentor apprentices consistently
  • Comfortable with email, mobile apps, timekeeping, and daily reporting


Qualifications

  • 12+ years in the carpentry trade
  • 5+ years running projects or leading crews
  • Ability to read plans and build from layout through completion
  • Valid drivers license
  • Strong communication and professional conduct


Position Summary

As a Lead Carpenter, youll:

  • Run day-to-day site operations
  • Perform high-level carpentry independently
  • Coordinate with the project manager, subs, and inspectors
  • Stay ahead on materials and schedule
  • Keep a clean, safe, organized job site
  • Lead and mentor apprentices
  • Submit basic daily reports and photos through company apps
