Job Description Fluor's Metals & Mining Material Handling division, VIRTA Inc., is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer IV to join our Denver, CO team. This position will be responsible for managing the technical execution of projects both independently or under direction of Senior Engineering, such as packages and calculations. Ability to work with 2D and 3D design tools and lead and guide the designer/drafters

Provide support to estimating for bids, securing estimate for engineering and equipment. Will contribute to development of internal process and tools while looking for ways of improvement and implementation. Apply Competitive Execution techniques to develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline engineering work Develop and review specifications, including design criteria Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting Assign work to teams, monitor and manage the work Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve complex engineering problems Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines Other duties as assigned Basic Job Requirements Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in Mechanical engineering field of study and a minimum of eight (8) years of work-related experience Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner Other Job Requirements Must be able to travel up to 25%, international and domestic Must excel in a team-oriented, deadline-driven manufacturing environment Proficient with Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) conveyor design standards Familiar with material handling system PIDs, flowsheets Intermediate knowledge of Autodesk or related tools Must have proficiency with belt conveyor analysis software such as Sidewinder, Beltstat or Belt Analyst Experience in calculations and selection/specifications for material handling system components such as drive systems, belting idlers, pulleys, dust collection, hydraulic systems, etc.

Preferred Qualifications Ten (10) or more yeara work experience Membership in technical society, such as Profession Engineer Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials Practical field experience Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs We are an equal opportunity employer.
