A Day in the Life as a Home Visitor:
As a Home Visitor you will be responsible for providing interim quality home visiting services for each participating family that provides opportunities designed to enhance the parent-child relationship, promote the development of parenting skills, and foster an environment in which the child can develop to his or her full potential. You will help plan group activities and educational opportunities for parents.
Your day will involve:
  • Providing weekly home visits for home-based families
  • Plans developmentally appropriate curriculum in collaboration with parent during weekly home visits for parent to engage child in activities designed to enhance the parent/child relationship and promote the child's growth and development.
  • Provides support to families through sharing information about appropriate resources and supporting families through the referral process

Each day is an opportunity to inspire curiosity, foster creativity, and build a foundation for lifelong success in the lives of children and their families.
Requirements
Qualifications to Be a Home Visitor:
To excel in this role, you'll need:
  • Education: Home Visitor CDA; or Associate or Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Services or related field
  • Experience: Previous Head Start or Early Head Start experience preferred; previous home visiting experience preferred
  • Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively communicate and relate comfortably to young children and families. Basic computer literacy skills.
  • Characteristics: Attention to detail, confidentiality, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive workplace and early childhood experience.
  • Technical: successful completion of criminal record check, CPR/First Aid certification.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required for occasional travel between program locations.
