Job description

Project Kuiper is Amazon's initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites providing low-latency, high-speed broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. We are looking for a Firmware Engineer to design, develop, and validate embedded software that runs on our satellite and ground test hardware.
In this role you will own firmware for RF and digital subsystems, from board bring-up through production test. You will work at the hardware/software boundary: writing drivers and control software for SoCs, FPGAs, and RFICs, debugging with lab instruments, and partnering closely with hardware, RF, and test automation teams to deliver reliable systems at scale.
Key job responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain embedded firmware in C/C++ and Rust for ARM-based SoCs and FPGA-based platforms
- Develop device drivers, board support packages, and hardware abstraction layers for peripherals (SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe, Ethernet)
- Bring up new hardware: validate schematics, debug board-level issues with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG debuggers
- Build and maintain firmware update, telemetry, and diagnostics capabilities
- Write unit and hardware-in-the-loop tests; integrate firmware into CI/CD pipelines
- Collaborate with hardware, RF, systems, and manufacturing test teams to root-cause cross-domain issues
- Contribute to design reviews, documentation, and operational excellence practices
