Those who currently possess a CDL license are preferred, but we will train non CDL applicants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Transport students in a timely manner to and from school and to and from school activities following district safety procedures and applicable State Board of Education rules and regulations.
  • Operate and safely drive a school bus in either good or adverse weather, road and traffic conditions while transporting passengers to school or special events. Comply with traffic regulations while operating vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Communicate bus rules/safety and behavior requirements to passengers; and address improper behavior immediately while using appropriate interpersonal communication skills.
  • Communicate with student's parents to solve inappropriate or unsafe behavior utilizing strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Assist students/passengers boarding and unloading the bus when necessary, including wheelchair students and adaptive equipment.
  • Inspect buses daily identify and report deficiencies. Perform vehicle maintenance procedures such as fluid/fuel levels, tire pressure checks, wash/ clean internal/external, and install tire chains, and any other normal daily maintenance as required.
  • Responsible to know rules, regulations (Federal, State and District) and laws concerning operation of a school bus; and comply with all traffic regulations.

Qualifications

Ability to obtain Class B CDL with passenger "P", school bus "S" endorsement with no airbrake restriction and a good driving record. Drivers must comply with part 391 of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and obtain/ sustain US DOT Medical Examiners Certificate. Obtain/ sustain First Aid/CPR certification upon hire if required.
