Job description

Welcome to the Agentic Commerce Era

At Commerce, our mission is to empower businesses to innovate, grow, and thrive with our open, AI-driven commerce ecosystem. As the parent company of BigCommerce, Feedonomics, and Makeswift, we connect the tools and systems that power growth, enabling businesses to unlock the full potential of their data, deliver seamless and personalized experiences across every channel, and adapt swiftly to an ever-changing market. We believe in harnessing AI responsibly to unlock new possibilities, and we're looking for individuals who use it intentionally to solve problems, accelerate outcomes, and expand what's possible in their role. Our purpose is to help businesses confidently solve complex commerce challenges so they can build smarter, adapt faster, and grow on their own terms. If you want to be part of a team of bold builders, sharp thinkers, and technical trailblazers who shape the future of commerce, this is the place for you.

Commerce is seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager to support the Feedonomics platform and drive the evolution of the platform in the agentic era of commerce. This role owns two interconnected strategic pillars: expanding and maturing our API surface area to enable integration with services and AI-powered workflows at scale; and building a next-generation in-platform AI assistant that allows operators to take catalog and channel actions through natural language.

The ideal candidate combines deep e-commerce domain knowledge with a strong technical orientation and a genuine interest in how AI agents, MCP servers, and CLI tooling are reshaping how software is built and operated. This role may also carry ownership over additional product areas that make up the Feedonomics solution offering.

As a Commerce brand, Feedonomics is a leading product feed management platform that helps brands, retailers, and agencies list and optimize products across top ecommerce channels worldwide. Feedonomics manages everything from onboarding to ongoing feed optimization, enabling our clients to scale faster with less effort. Feedonomics has earned a strong reputation for a full-service model and powerful technology-all rooted in a commitment to excellence.

What You'll Do:

  • Own the strategy and roadmap for Feedonomics' programmatic access layer, including APIs covering catalog management, data transformation, import/export configuration, etc.

  • Define capability requirements and prioritize the backlog for API surface expansion; translate complex workflows into clear, well-scoped API capabilities

  • Drive developer experience improvements across authentication, error handling, rate-limit design, and documentation so that integration partners and internal tools can build reliably on FDX APIs

  • Lead the product definition for a conversational AI assistant embedded in the Feedonomics platform, enabling users to take targeted catalog management and channel actions through natural language

  • Define and ship the tools (e.g., MCP, CLI) that expose Feedonomics capabilities to AI agents and LLM-powered workflows, including capability descriptions, tool schemas, and safety/permission guardrails

  • Work closely with engineering to define the right level of abstraction for Feedonomics tools to simplify workflows and reduce required API calls

  • Stay current with the evolving agentic ecosystem (MCP, function-calling, agent SDKs) and continuously refine the product strategy based on how customers and partners are adopting these capabilities

  • Lead strategic planning, development, and execution for your product areas end-to-end, including roadmap definition, backlog management in Jira, and sprint-level delivery

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and opportunities in e-commerce technology and the AI tooling landscape

  • Collaborate closely with engineering, design, sales, and customer support to define requirements and priorities grounded in customer outcomes Decompose complex initiatives into iterative deliverables, with each release adding measurable customer value

  • Create comprehensive narratives for Epics and Stories; facilitate planning and grooming sessions to keep teams aligned and unblocked

  • Validate new functionality with platform users and key stakeholders before development; demo features to the organization and customers

  • Define and track metrics that measure the effectiveness of product enhancements; iterate based on data

  • Communicate product strategy, business outcomes, and performance metrics to stakeholders at all levels

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 years owning platform, API, or developer-facing products

  • Demonstrated track record of defining and shipping API products or developer tools used by external integrators

  • Strong familiarity with the e-commerce technology stack: platforms (Shopify, BigCommerce, Magento), advertising channels (Google, Meta), marketplaces (Amazon, Walmart, eBay), and business systems (PIM, ERP, OMS)

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, startup-like environment with ambiguous, high-stakes problems

  • Technical background or strong technical orientation - comfortable getting into the weeds with engineers on API design, authentication schemes, rate-limit strategy, and data pipeline architecture

  • Familiarity with the emerging agentic AI tooling ecosystem: Model Context Protocol (MCP), LLM function calling, agent SDKs, or similar. You don't need to have shipped an MCP server, but you understand what they are and why they matter

  • Understanding of the agent harness and orchestration layer - how frameworks wrap LLMs with memory, tools, and execution loops, and why that matters for how external agents will discover and invoke Feedonomics capabilities. You've used AI agents with tool/function calling to complete real workflows

  • Comfort working with REST APIs, reading API documentation, and reasoning about developer ergonomics and integration patterns

Skills & Mindset

  • You possess an entrepreneurial mindset, with a bias for customer-centric innovation and a sense of urgency

  • You get excited about tackling big, complicated, and often ambiguous problems - and you bring structure to them

  • You understand that changing user behavior is harder than building features, and you design accordingly

  • You think about APIs as products with two audiences: the developer reading the docs and the AI agent reasoning about the schema. You optimize for both

  • You are a powerful cross-functional influencer - people like working with you even when they disagree with you

  • You possess strong UX instincts and drive the design vision

  • You ask "Why did they build it that way?" and "What would happen if...?" You love trying new things

  • You have excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences

  • You have strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex requirements into actionable product plans

Work Where You Thrive

This is a hybrid role. For candidates based in the Austin metro area, the position follows a hybrid work model with three days per week in the office, balancing focused individual work with meaningful in-person collaboration.
