Lifetime Home Remodeling is seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to lead our growing Accounting function from our headquarters in Denver, Colorado. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and is ready to help build the financial infrastructure of a rapidly expanding organization.
The Controller will lead and develop an accounting team of 10+ professionals while working closely with the CFO and executive leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, disciplined financial processes, and actionable business insights. This role will play a critical part in supporting Lifetime's continued expansion across Colorado, Arizona, and California.

What You'll Be Doing
Accounting Leadership:
  • Lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounting department and a team of 10+ accounting professionals.
  • Partner closely with the CFO to establish financial priorities, improve processes, and support company-wide decision-making.
  • Develop, coach, and hold accounting team members accountable to performance and accuracy standards.
  • Establish clear processes, expectations, and accountability across the accounting function.

Financial Reporting & Close:
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and management reporting.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and P&L activity.
  • Ensure financial reporting is accurate, consistent, and aligned with GAAP.
  • Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and reporting issues.

Financial Controls & Process Improvement:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and improve accounting processes.
  • Establish scalable accounting procedures to support continued company growth.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation and controls are maintained across the accounting function.

Business Partnership & Analysis:
  • Partner with business leaders to understand financial performance and operational trends.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights that help leadership make informed decisions.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning alongside the CFO.
  • Analyze business unit performance, profitability, and key financial metrics.
  • Identify risks, trends, and opportunities and communicate recommendations to leadership.

Payroll, Tax & Compliance:
  • Oversee accounting support for payroll and related journal entries.
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners on tax filings, audits, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate accounting treatment and documentation for tax-related activity.
  • Support annual financial audits and provide requested documentation and schedules.

Special Projects:
  • Lead and support high-impact accounting and financial projects as directed by the CFO.
  • Assist with system implementations, process redesigns, acquisitions, or other strategic initiatives as the business grows.
  • Continuously evaluate the accounting infrastructure and recommend improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
What You Need
Experience: 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated leadership responsibility. Experience in construction, home services, remodeling, distribution, or another project-based environment is strongly preferred.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead, develop, and manage an accounting team while maintaining high standards for accuracy, accountability, and performance.
Technical Accounting: Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, reconciliations, internal controls, and accounting best practices.
Financial Acumen: Demonstrated ability to analyze financial performance, identify trends, and translate financial information into actionable business recommendations.
Systems & Technology: Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems. Experience improving accounting systems and processes is highly preferred.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with accounting professionals, operational leaders, executives, and external partners.
Business Mindset: Strategic thinker who can balance technical accounting requirements with the speed and demands of a rapidly growing business.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA or advanced degree is a plus.
Professionalism: Highly organized, dependable, analytical, and comfortable managing competing priorities in a high-performance environment.

Work Environment: Full-time, in-office position based at Lifetime Home Remodeling's headquarters in Denver, Colorado.
