JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced Building Automation Systems (BAS) Controls Project Manager to lead and deliver commercial and institutional controls projects from kickoff through closeout. This role is ideal for someone who understands both the technical and operational sides of BAS projects and can confidently manage scope, schedule, budget, and people.

You will serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects, coordinating with internal engineering and field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and customers to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage BAS controls projects from contract award through final acceptance
  • Own project scope, schedule, budget, forecasting, and cost control
  • Coordinate engineering, programming, graphics, installation, commissioning, and closeout activities
  • Serve as the primary customer interface, including meetings, progress updates, and issue resolution
  • Review contracts, specifications, sequences of operation, and submittals
  • Manage change orders, including scope evaluation, pricing, and documentation
  • Lead project planning meetings and internal handoffs
  • Track labor, material, and subcontractor performance
  • Ensure projects comply with safety standards, company processes, and quality expectations
  • Support startup, commissioning, and owner training as required

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires a combination of working in an office environment and routine visits to project jobsites up to 50% of working hours. Project jobsites present typical construction and outdoor conditions that require the use of personal protective equipment for safety purposes.  Lifting and exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds more frequently is required.  Must be comfortable climbing a ladder infrequently. Small repetitive motions and use of small tools are included.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Annual base salary ranges from $75,000 - $124,000 depending on experience

  • Typical Monday Friday working hours with flexibility as needed
  • Local travel required up to with infrequent out-of-state travel

REQUIRED CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of BAS controls project management experience
  • Strong understanding of building automation systems, HVAC controls, and low-voltage systems
  • Experience managing commercial or institutional projects such as healthcare, education, or large office buildings
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and controls drawings
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Proficiency with project management tools, spreadsheets, and documentation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hands-on background as a BAS technician, engineer or programmer
  • Experience with platforms such as Niagara, Alerton, Distech, Delta, or similar
  • Familiarity with BACnet, IP networks, and system integration
  • Healthcare or mission-critical project experience
  • PMP or similar certification
