At Houston Methodist, the Marketing Technology (MarTech) Product Strategist position is responsible for technical campaign execution and deployments related to assigned digital products. This position utilizes strategic planning and technical administrative skills to coordinate product deliverables for a specified digital product and provides product support within digital tools and integrations to increase consumer and patient engagement, drive volume, and improve experiences. The MarTech Product Strategist position utilizes proficiency in assigned digital products, contributes to strategic plans, supports project management of enhancements and implementations, and activates digital campaigns and digital programming within the product and tools as an active user. This position is responsible for the coordination and planning for product and experience implementations, enhancements, and maintenance in alignment with business priorities and service line goals, as well as the administration of product capabilities.
The candidate owns organic visibility across the health system's digital presence - traditional SEO, SEM coordination, and the emerging discipline of Answer Engine Optimization (AEO/GEO), which governs how Houston Methodist is surfaced and cited by AI assistants including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews.
Houston Methodist is hiring a search strategist to own how one of the nation's top academic medical centers is found - by patients, by search engines, and increasingly, by AI. This role spans technical SEO, SEM alignment, and the emerging frontier of Answer Engine Optimization (AEO): ensuring our physicians, services, and expertise are surfaced accurately and prominently when patients ask AI assistants for care guidance.
Hands-on SEO including enterprise/multi-site environments (healthcare a plus, not required)
Strong analytics proficiency - GA4 required; Adobe Customer Journey Analytics (CJA) a plus
Technical SEO depth: crawl analysis, log file review, Core Web Vitals, JavaScript SEO, JSON-LD schema implementation
AEO/GEO working knowledge - how LLMs retrieve, rank, and cite content; entity SEO; answer-formatted content structuring. Proof of active experimentation matters more than years of titled experience.
Working SEM experience - Google Ads/Bing, campaign structure, landing page optimization
Tool fluency: Google Search Console, Ahrefs, Moz, SEO Clarity, Conductor (or similar enterprise SEO platform), Screaming Frog, Looker Studio or equivalent
Google Business Profile management and local SEO optimization - experience managing multi-location profiles, local pack performance, and citation consistency at scale
Page performance fluency - Google Lighthouse, Core Web Vitals diagnostics, and ability to partner with dev on remediation
Technical literacy: HTML/CSS, JS fundamentals, CMS platforms
Demonstrated project management experience - ability to run multiple concurrent initiatives with cross-functional stakeholders, defined milestones, and on-time delivery

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in related MarTech field, including but not limited to Business, Design or Graphic Design, Communications, Computer Science, MIS, Engineering. For internal candidates will consider 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree

  • Four years' direct experience in MarTech with digital marketing products, software, design and technologies as applicable to the assigned product
