At Best Friends Pet Care, we’re growing rapidly through strategic acquisitions. With each new location, we’re deepening our insights into performance and profitability—ensuring our operations, marketing, and business strategies are data-driven and future-ready.

Role Overview:
We are looking for a strategically minded Senior Financial Analyst to join our finance team during a period of rapid expansion. You will be a critical partner to our leadership team, providing the data-driven insights needed to scale our footprint, optimize our service mix (boarding, daycare, and grooming), and ensure every new location reaches profitability quickly.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational FP&A & Performance Management:

  • Lead the annual budgeting and monthly rolling forecast processes, ensuring accuracy as the business scales.
  • Partner with Operations to track and optimize the Labor Cost Percentage, aiming for the industry benchmark of 25%–50% of revenue.
  • Monitor and report on high-impact KPIs: Occupancy Rate (target 80%+), Average Revenue Per Client (ARPC), and Dog-to-Staff Ratios.

Hyper-Growth Modeling & Expansion Support:

  • Build and maintain complex financial models to evaluate new site viability, including pro-forma P&Ls for potential acquisitions or new builds.
  • Analyze "speed of occupancy ramp" for new locations to predict cash flow needs and break-even timelines.

Strategic Insights & Unit Economics:

  • Conduct deep-dive analyses into service-line profitability (e.g., boarding vs. daycare packages vs. add-on enrichment services).
  • Identify opportunities for margin improvement through pricing strategies and upselling initiatives.
  • Evaluate Marketing ROI and Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) vs. Lifetime Value (LTV) to guide growth spend.

Process Automation & Reporting:

  • Establish and automate weekly "Flash Reports" and executive dashboards to provide real-time visibility into multi-unit performance.
  • Refine financial policies and internal controls to maintain data integrity during rapid scaling.

Other Duties:

  • Work cross-functionally with operations, marketing, and accounting teams
  • Gather and validate data from multiple systems and sources
  • Create and present findings to stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in Finance or FP&A, ideally in multi-unit retail, hospitality, or pet services.
  • Technical Skills: Mastery of Excel and proficiency with BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, or specialized pet-care software.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Soft Skills: Ability to thrive in an ambiguous, fast-paced "start-up" environment and communicate complex data to non-financial stakeholders (e.g., Facility Managers).

Why This Role?
This is a rare opportunity to build the financial foundation of a category leader in the pet services space. You will be influencing the strategic direction of our growth map and operational model.
