What is fresh logistics?

Fresh logistics refers to the management and transportation of perishable goods, such as fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, and seafood, that require temperature-controlled environments to maintain their quality and freshness. This field covers all processes from storage, packaging, and handling to timely delivery, ensuring products remain safe for consumption. Companies specializing in fresh logistics use refrigerated vehicles, specialized packaging, and real-time tracking to minimize spoilage and meet strict regulatory standards.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in fresh logistics?

To excel in Fresh Logistics, you need a solid understanding of supply chain management, inventory control, and cold chain processes, often supported by relevant logistics or business degrees. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), temperature monitoring technology, and certifications such as HACCP or SQF is valuable. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills help professionals adapt to fast-paced environments and coordinate across teams. These competencies ensure the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of perishable goods, maintaining product quality and customer satisfaction.

What are some common challenges faced in a fresh logistics role, and how can they be managed effectively?

Fresh Logistics professionals often encounter challenges such as maintaining product freshness during transport, adhering to strict temperature control standards, and meeting tight delivery schedules. Managing these requires close coordination with suppliers, drivers, and warehouse staff, as well as proficiency with cold chain technology and real-time tracking tools. Being proactive about route planning, contingency protocols, and regulatory compliance helps ensure products arrive in optimal condition and builds trust with clients and partners.

Job description

The Bright Experience
From weddings and celebrations to corporate gatherings and major sporting productions, our team works behind the scenes to bring events to life. We take pride in delivering exceptional experiences, embracing creativity, and making every event run seamlessly.
We believe extraordinary events start with extraordinary people. If you take pride in your work, enjoy collaborating with a supportive team, and want to be part of something bigger, you'll feel at home here.
About the Job
Warehouse Manager at Bright Event Rentals isn't a behind-the-desk role. It's a hands-on leadership position for someone who thrives in a physical, fast-moving environment and takes real pride in running a tight operation. You'll lead a team of warehouse team members, own the condition and readiness of our rental inventory, and make sure every truck leaves on time and every item comes back accounted for. When event season hits full stride, you're the reason things don't fall apart.
This role sits at the intersection of people leadership, logistics, and operational execution. If you're energized by solving problems on the fly, building strong teams, and seeing the direct result of your work - this is the job.
What You'll Do
• Direct the daily operations of the warehouse, including inbound and outbound equipment flow, staging, and yard organization.
• Lead, schedule, and develop a team of warehouse team members, setting expectations, coaching performance, and building accountability into the culture.
• Ensure all rental inventory is inspected, cleaned, repaired, and event-ready at all times.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficiently run warehouse environment that meets company standards.
• Oversee crew scheduling and timekeeping to match operational demands, including peak event periods.
• Collaborate with operations and logistics leadership to align warehouse output with delivery schedules and event timelines.
• Monitor inventory levels and equipment condition; escalate maintenance needs and flag discrepancies early.
• Enforce safety protocols and company policies, and model the behavior you expect from your team.
• Identify inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement across warehouse processes and workflows.
• Handle team performance matters directly, including coaching conversations, corrective action, and recognition.
What You Bring
  • Proven experience leading warehouse, logistics, or operations teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership instincts: you know how to motivate people, develop talent, and hold a team accountable.
  • A track record of managing competing priorities, shifting schedules, and meeting tight deadlines without losing your footing.
  • Clear, confident communication and the ability to work cross-functionally across departments.
  • Comfort with basic computer tools including Outlook and Excel.
  • An organized, detail-oriented mindset with a solutions-first approach.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and extended hours during peak event periods; this business doesn't slow down, and neither do you.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean record that meets company standards.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the warehouse for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred; it's a meaningful advantage in this market.
