Job description

Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Pizza Cook to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate has a genuine passion for food, a strong work ethic, and the ability to perform consistently in a high-volume environment. As a Pizza Cook at Pizza Studio Tamaki NY, you will be responsible for preparing, stretching, topping, and firing pizzas to precise quality standards, while contributing to the overall energy and culture of our kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and stretch dough according to established portioning and quality standards
• Sauce, top, and dress pizzas using fresh, house-made, and imported ingredients
• Operate the pizza oven safely and efficiently, monitoring cook times and temperatures
• Maintain station cleanliness, organization, and mise en place throughout service
• Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols in accordance with NYC DOH standards
• Execute tickets accurately and efficiently during lunch, dinner, and event service
• Assist with prep work including vegetable prep, sauce production, and ingredient portioning
• Support kitchen team during high-volume periods, maintaining composure under pressure
• Receive and properly store deliveries; rotate stock using FIFO principles
• Communicate clearly with the line and front-of-house team to ensure smooth service
• Participate in pre-shift and post-shift kitchen tasks including cleaning and breakdown
Qualifications
Required
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a professional kitchen environment
• Experience with pizza preparation, dough handling, or wood/gas oven operation preferred
• Solid understanding of kitchen fundamentals: mise en place, sanitation, temperature control
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
• Strong team-oriented attitude and willingness to take direction
• Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
• NYC Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)
Preferred
• Experience working in a Neapolitan, Italian, or Japanese-inspired kitchen concept
• Familiarity with artisan dough fermentation and sourdough-style pizza preparation
• Interest in or knowledge of Japanese culinary techniques and ingredients
• Experience with high-volume or event dining service
