Job description

Medical Director – Correctional Medicine

  • Role: Physician leadership position responsible for directing and coordinating medical services within a correctional health program.
  • Responsibilities: Oversee clinical services, supervise physicians and APPs, lead quality improvement, develop policies, support physician recruitment/retention, and manage departmental goals and operations.
  • Patient Care: Provide clinical oversight for adult and women's health while promoting patient-centered, integrated care.
  • Leadership: Requires strong physician leadership, communication, team-building, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of clinical medicine management experience and correctional healthcare experience are required.
  • Education/Credentials: ACGME/AMA-approved residency and Board Eligible or Board Certified in an appropriate specialty.
  • Licensure: Texas medical license required or must be obtained within 180 days.
  • Other: Clean malpractice/license history preferred; Spanish proficiency preferred; professional reference and recent NPDB self-query required.
  • Position Type: Permanent only; fresh graduates and visa candidates are not accepted.
