Job description

We are seeking a hands-on Fresh Cut Production Manager to lead fresh-cut produce operations within a high-volume, refrigerated food distribution facility in Jessup, MD.. This role oversees approximately 45+ production employees across multiple shifts and is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production while meeting customer demand, quality standards, food safety requirements, and shipping deadlines. Bilingual Spanish required.

The ideal candidate is an experienced food production leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong background in fresh-cut produce, food manufacturing, and refrigerated food production.

Salary starts from $105,000/year, commensurate with experience

Responsibilities
  • Lead all daily fresh-cut production operations across multiple shifts.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop production supervisors, leads, and hourly employees while promoting accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop daily production plans to meet customer orders, shipping schedules, and labor requirements.
  • Monitor productivity, labor utilization, product quality, yields, waste, and operational performance.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMPs, sanitation standards, OSHA regulations, and company food safety policies.
  • Partner with Warehouse, Inventory, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Transportation, and Procurement to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, cross-training, and employee performance.
  • Promote a safe work environment and ensure proper equipment operation and sanitation practices.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and production efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase productivity, reduce waste, and control labor costs.
  • Track and report key production metrics, including productivity, labor efficiency, quality, food safety, and on-time order fulfillment.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of production management experience in fresh-cut produce food manufacturing, food processing, or refrigerated food distribution required
  • Experience leading large production teams in a high-volume, multi-shift environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, food safety, sanitation, OSHA, and quality systems, including at least one certification (i.e. HACCP, ServSafe, GMP, PCQI)
  • Experience with production planning, labor management, inventory coordination, and continuous improvement.
  • Proven leadership, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
