About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Freight & Transportation Manager to oversee all transportation operations across our network of five distribution centers. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing cost-effective transportation strategies while ensuring exceptional service to our customers and internal facilities.

The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge of multiple transportation modes—including LTL, truckload, dedicated fleets, intermodal, drayage, white glove, final-mile delivery, and expedited services—and possesses strong analytical and negotiation skills to continually optimize our freight network.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all domestic transportation operations across five distribution centers.
  • Develop and execute transportation strategies that improve service levels while reducing overall freight costs.
  • Oversee inbound, outbound, and inter-facility transfer operations.
  • Manage relationships with transportation providers, including LTL carriers, truckload carriers, dedicated fleets, white glove providers, brokers, and final-mile delivery companies.
  • Source, evaluate, negotiate, and implement new carrier programs and transportation partnerships.
  • Analyze freight spend, transportation trends, and operational performance to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs including transportation cost, on-time delivery, claims ratio, damage rates, service performance, and carrier scorecards.
  • Lead carrier contract negotiations, rate agreements, and annual bid processes.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate shipments, optimize routing, improve trailer utilization, and reduce empty miles.
  • Prepare executive reports and recommendations using data-driven analysis.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging transportation technologies, software, and industry best practices.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of transportation, freight management, or logistics leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of LTL, FTL, Dedicated Fleet, White Glove, Final Mile, Intermodal, Drayage, Expedited Freight, and TMS.
  • Proven success negotiating freight rates and transportation contracts.
  • Experience managing carrier relationships and transportation performance.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, complex formulas, dashboards).
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling abilities.
  • Experience with ERP systems and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
