Freight Manager
Job Overview
Priority Wire and Cable is currently in need of a Freight Manager who can quickly contribute and complement our team! The ideal candidate will have LTL, FTL, 3PL experience and strong logistics knowledge to included tariffs, routing, and disputes.
This position will be based out of our Little Rock, AR or Houston, TX office and will lead a small team. Relocation may be possible.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Your duties may include:
• Transportation procurement process - carrier sourcing, negotiating freight contracts and pricing agreements for all modes of transportation (LTL, FTL, air, parcel)
• Manage relationships with all carrier's and 3PL's, and conduct performance reviews.
• Manage and train a team of logistic coordinators and assistants consisting of 4-5 direct employees to ensure proper planning and on-time delivery to customers and PWC distribution centers.
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators (cost of shipments, carrier capacity, freight cost savings, and providing insights to management team)
• Oversee and aid with freight audits and resolve discrepancies, including freight claims for loss or damage to ensure timely payment to carriers.
• Review and maintain compliance with all transportation regulations and provide updates regarding NMFC changes.
• Work closely with multiple departments including Warehouse Operations, Sales, Purchasing, Marketing, and Engineering to streamline order to deliver.
• Collaborate with Operations to maintain standard operating procedures for all freight-related activities to ensure consistency and proper training.
• Participate in reviewing and implementation of new software and technologies, such as TMS, and other real-time platforms.
• Primary contact point for all critical transportation issues, providing timely resolutions with clear communication to all departments.
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job due to its in-person work requirement.

Requirements:
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools like Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUPS) SQL or BI platforms (Power BI)
• Experience with international shipping documents, incoterms, and customs brokerage process
• Strong team leadership and management skills and ability to work in fast paced environment and manage multiple priorities at once.
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good negotiation and influencing skills to produce favorable outcomes both internally and externally.
• 5+ years of transportation experience (LTL, FTL, Ocean, Air) regarding common practices and pricing structures
• Proven procurement and contract negotiation skills to produce success.
• Ability to travel up to 15% per year.
• Must be able to pass drug screen and criminal background check.
