As a leading developer, manufacturer, and global supplier of scientific laboratory products for 100 years, Corning's Life Sciences segment collaborates with researchers seeking new approaches to increase efficiencies, reduce costs and compress timelines in the drug discovery process. Primary Purpose of the Position
The primary purpose of this position is to load and unload product pallets for sterilization in strict compliance with the established irradiator operational product shift plan. The role is responsible for placing product dosimetry in accordance with current validated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), organizing and maintaining the sterilization queue based on the availability of finished goods, and monitoring recycling system streams to minimize any interference of recycling waste with production flow.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This position includes significant duties such as:
  • Transfer all non-sterile product to the product pallet loader using a forklift for irradiation, following the applicable loading diagram.
  • Inspect, place, and document product dosimeters throughout each lot.
  • Safely operate the irradiator, internal and external conveyors, and all irradiator auxiliary support systems.
  • Follow established procedures for counting and recording the number of cases loaded and unloaded.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform timely repairs to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Assist the Irradiator Operator in performing routine safety and operational checks on the sterilizer and facility.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Irradiator Operations area.
  • Ensure proper product and lot segregation in pre-sterile and post-sterile staging areas.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and totes.
  • Work under the direction of the Shift Irradiator Operator.
  • Participate in special projects within the Irradiator Operations Department or other departments as required.
  • Maintain compliance with all government and company safety regulations, environmental and emergency procedures, and Quality System Requirements.
  • Observe and follow all safety, environmental, and Quality System procedures at all times.

Working Conditions
  • Somewhat disagreeable working conditions.
  • Frequently lift and/or move materials up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move materials up to 65 pounds.
  • Exposure to fumes and high-frequency noise in manufacturing and warehouse areas.
  • Exposure to industrial machinery, moving parts, electrical systems, and other energy sources.
  • Mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to gloves, eye protection, and safety shoes.

Education and Experience
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience:
  • 6 to 12 months of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.

The range for this position is $19.25 hourly rate - $22.50 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
