About the Role
Infrastructure Engineering Inc. (IEI) New York and New Jersey Offices are looking for a Civil Engineer II to join our Team We are a leading engineering firm known for quality and responsiveness and a proven track record of success as a Prime civil engineering firm. The Civil Engineer II role will support the Design Team and perform professional engineering work, including developmental assignments involving the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out routine engineering tasks under close supervision.
The primary responsibility of the Civil Engineer II will focus on technical areas which include roadway/site design, pavement design, airside design, passenger and freight rail design, utility design, stormwater design and Environmental regulatory compliance/permitting. Typically, these are rehabilitation or reconstruction of runways, taxiways or aprons. Join us on this exciting journey as we continue to build a company based on Integrity, Excellence, and Ingenuity!
Essential Duties/Functions and Responsibilities:
• Prepares design computations, plans and related construction documents.
• Prepares reports, specifications, studies, and permits.
• Analyzes and interprets variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
• Assists in analyzing and interpreting engineering and construction documents, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
• Prepares quantity calculations and cost estimates.
• Prepare engineering and design documents using computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment.
• Performs construction observation and prepares appropriate documentation.
• Organizes and maintains project files and documentation.
• Assists in preparation and presentation of technical information to colleagues and clients.
• Assists Project, Design and/or Office Managers as requested.
Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering college or university.
• Must have a minimum of 4 years engineering design experience, with at least two (2) years of relevant airside design experience.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D software application.
• Experience preparing contract documents, specifications and estimates
• Familiarity with FAA standards and advisory circulars.
• Familiarity with AASHTO and/or similar guidelines.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Proficient communication skills and use of common software applications like Word, Excel and Outlook.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
• Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

• Occasionally, may require extended or irregular hours, including evenings or weekends, to support project demands or respond to unexpected field situations.
• Work is performed in both office and field environments, including time spent reviewing plans, reports, and project documentation.
• Standard schedule is typically a 40-hour workweek, with flexibility for day or night shifts depending on project needs.
