The Position: The Systems Engineer is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of the PLM environment, the integrity of the data contained therein, and supporting the user community. The Systems Engineer is also responsible for staying current with industry trends and information technology enhancements in order to ensure that the Engineering environment and practices continues to evolve.

Responsibilities
  • Set own standards of performance with direct accountability for final results with only administrative direction, OR highly creative independent work involving basic research in scientific areas without direction.
  • Manage the configuration, deployment, maintenance, and upgrades of CAD/PLM applications and processes.
  • Develop interface architecture, design, and configure applications based on business requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Analyze user needs to determine engineering and product data requirements, CAD and PLM functional requirements, process, and data modeling to meet user needs.
  • Develop system queries and utilities to support userโ€™s information searches.
  • Develop, plan, coordinate, and execution of PLM tools that meet established requirements.
  • Development of system change test plans.
  • Coordination and implementation of CAD / PLM system changes.
  • Define/Document technical content and guide the development/coordination of training for CAD and PLM Applications, new functionalities, and upgrades.
  • Provide specialized technical assistance on a daily basis.
  • Actively work to improve daily processes.
  • Ensure systems integrity and manage all product configuration data and information throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Responsible for the integrity of product definition data.
  • Ensure proper application security policies.
  • Work with IT to provide system support and enhance development.
  • Work with various business units to support data consumption standards, manufacturing trials.
  • Develop and deploy systems, methodologies, standards, and processes that result in the ability to manage Engineering data for efficient and effective consumption.
  • Work across multiple functional departments to research, develop and deploy technical advances in information technology mapped to business processes.
  • Maintain a current and up-to-date knowledge of PLM technology developments in order to recommend innovations to improve the quality, economy, and effectiveness of Great Dane products and processes.
  • Recognize discrepancies and/or problems with analysis, process mapping or system implementation results and work toward corrective action.

Qualifications

Your skills and abilities (required qualifications)

  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering or IT related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 yearsโ€™ experience in trailer or related industry.
  • Skills: Business process mapping and project management skills.
  • Ability to apply industry best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral skills.
  • Self-motivated, independent analytical thinking; executes projects with minimal supervision
  • Desire to own decisions and take responsibility for outcome
  • General understanding of engineering/manufacturing data requirements and design tools.
  • Functional knowledge of design engineering/manufacturing applications and processes.
  • Functional knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience with CAD, PDM, and licensing tools (CATIA, SmarTeam, SolidWorks and Aris Innovator)
  • Working understanding of PCs and Windows OS
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with Visual basic and general programming
  • Working understanding of PCs and Windows OS.
  • Travel: Occasional travel is required to provide onsite support and/or meetings.
