The Mechanical Engineer is an integral member of the Sustaining Engineering team, responsible for supporting production and driving the continuous improvement of existing Ground Support Equipment. This role provides technical support in the design, development, and implementation of engineering solutions. The individual will work closely with cross-functional teams and help to guide projects to successful completion.

YOUR IMPACT

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Under close supervision, perform engineering investigations, analyses, and design activities in accordance with Oshkosh and industry standards.

  • Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for heavy-duty vehicles while supporting sustaining engineering activities, including product improvements and redesigns.

  • Support engineering projects of limited complexity by assisting with design, analysis, testing, documentation, and implementation.

  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and supplier teams to develop practical engineering solutions.

  • Support production by troubleshooting manufacturing issues and implementing timely, cost-effective design solutions.

  • Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, bills of material, and other technical documentation in accordance with company standards.

  • Perform engineering analyses to support component selection, material selection, product safety, manufacturability, and overall system performance.

  • Participate in design reviews and work with senior engineers, designers, and technicians to develop and evaluate engineering solutions.

  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and other engineering documentation to communicate project status and design recommendations.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, reliability, manufacturability, and operational efficiency.

  • Maintain effective communication with internal customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams regarding technical issues and project progress.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Regular attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field along with Internship experience or six (6) or more months of related work experience.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Experience with mechanical designs included sheet metal components, weldments, and fabricated structures.

  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude with experience testing, troubleshooting, and validating.

  • General knowledge of hydraulic systems and basic electrical integration.

  • Experience supporting production or sustaining engineering environments.

  • Experience with design using a 3D CAD software such as Siemens NX or SolidWorks.

  • Experience using Teamcenter or other PLM software.

  • Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards.

Pay Range:

$64,500.00 - $103,500.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
