Job description

Freelance Video Editor / Production Lead

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Crecera Brands is the driving force behind Sportsman’s Guide, Salt Strong, The Golfer’s World, Play Baseball and Play Softball, five of America’s leading retailers of outdoor gear, sporting goods and golf supplies. For nearly 45 years, our companies have been dedicated to helping our customers enjoy the fun, freedom, and traditions of the great outdoors. From hunting and fishing to playing ball and hitting the links, the companies of Crecera Brands deliver the gear you need to succeed. Our websites include sportsmansguide.com, tgw.com, saltstrong.com, playbaseball.com and playsoftball.com.

About Sportsman’s Guide

Sportsman’s Guide is building a modern content engine focused on seasonal storytelling, contributor-driven content, social formats, and creator partnerships across hunting, military surplus, camping, fishing, and outdoor lifestyle categories.

We are currently seeking a freelance Video Editor / Production Lead to partner with us on an initial military surplus content initiative, with potential for an ongoing or expanded role.

 Initial Project: “Repurpose This Surplus”

Military surplus bags are endlessly functional, but difficult to sell through traditional product marketing alone.

Our “Repurpose This Surplus” initiative partners with creators to demonstrate how surplus bags and gear can be adapted for real-world use—from everyday carry and travel kits to camping, tools, photography, range gear, and beyond.

The goal is not to sell a specific SKU.

The goal is to sell:

  • utility
  • durability
  • creativity
  • the category itself

We are looking for someone who can help shape this initiative into a recognizable and repeatable content format.

What We’re Looking For

Someone who understands:

  • social-first storytelling
  • pacing and hooks
  • YouTube + short-form packaging
  • creator footage workflows
  • repeatable formats and episodic structure
  • turning raw footage into compelling brand content

This role is not just about editing clips.

We’re looking for someone who can help:

  • establish repeatable content formats
  • shape visual identity and pacing
  • define capture approaches and shot requirements
  • collaborate on creator briefs and footage planning
  • build reusable editing systems and templates
  • package contributor footage into polished brand and social assets

Responsibilities

Initial project responsibilities include:

  • Editing creator-supplied footage
  • Helping shape pacing and structure
  • Developing intro/outro approaches
  • Creating social cutdowns and variations
  • Helping define creator shot lists and capture guidance
  • Collaborating on creator briefs before creators film
  • Advising on shot needs or missing coverage
  • Building repeatable templates for future episodes
  • Collaborating with content strategy and creative teams

Ideal Experience

  • Video editing for YouTube and social
  • Motion graphics and packaging
  • Creator/influencer content workflows
  • Outdoor, lifestyle, EDC, military surplus, or adventure content experience preferred
  • Experience developing repeatable content formats strongly preferred

What Success Looks Like

  • The series feels recognizable and repeatable
  • Creator footage is elevated through strong editing and packaging
  • Videos feel authentic, useful, and engaging
  • Assets work across YouTube, social, and paid formats
  • The project establishes a foundation for future contributor-driven content initiatives

Engagement Structure

This will begin as a freelance/contract project with the potential to evolve into a longer-term or full-time role as Sportsman’s Guide continues building its content and creator ecosystem.
