Job Title: Technical Publications WriterJob Description

This role creates and maintains high-quality technical documentation, dimensional drawings, parts illustrations, and service information that support a complete product line. The position uses engineering models, AutoCAD, photographs, and precise measurements to develop accurate materials for Parts and Service Manuals. The Technical Publications Writer collaborates closely with engineers and technical publications staff and regularly accesses the factory to inspect, measure, and photograph equipment to ensure documentation is detailed, accurate, and up to date.

Responsibilities
  • Create, maintain, and update dimensional drawings for the complete product line to support technical documentation needs.
  • Develop accurate 2D dimensioned drawings and parts illustrations using AutoCAD 2D and 3D solid modeling tools.
  • Create and modify complex 3D solid models as needed to support dimensional drawings and technical illustrations.
  • Use engineering 3D solid models as a primary resource for developing parts pages and technical illustrations.
  • Supplement engineering models with photographs, measurements, and information gathered directly from equipment in the factory.
  • Create parts pages and service pictorial information for inclusion in Parts and Service Manuals.
  • Work with engineers to determine appropriate dimensions, technical details, and additional written instructions required for drawings and parts illustrations.
  • Provide technical illustrations, drawings, and supporting graphics to technical writers as needed for manuals and other publications.
  • Conduct research to ensure the use of accurate technical information and appropriate industry and company terminology in all documentation.
  • Visit the factory and production areas to photograph, inspect, measure, and document machines and components.
  • Safely access equipment as necessary, including climbing ladders and working around, over, and underneath machinery to gather accurate information.
  • Maintain organized files and documentation for drawings, illustrations, photographs, and related technical information.
  • Track assigned projects and manage priorities to ensure documentation is completed within established deadlines.
  • Assist with formatting, editing, and publishing technical documentation using applicable software tools.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $75000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
