What are Freelance Tractor Owner Operators?

Freelance Tractor Owner Operators are independent contractors who own and operate their own tractor units (trucks) and typically haul freight for various clients or transportation companies. Unlike company drivers, they are responsible for managing their business, including vehicle maintenance, securing loads, and handling taxes and insurance. These operators enjoy flexibility in choosing their routes and schedules, but they also bear the risks and responsibilities of running their own trucking business. Many work with freight brokers or sign contracts with shipping companies to find consistent work.
