You'll also help lead the newsroom by editing content, planning coverage, mentoring contributors, and working alongside the Managing Editor of the Bonner County Daily Bee to produce award winning local journalism.
If you're passionate about community journalism and want the opportunity to grow into newsroom leadership, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do

  • Cover local government, schools, business, courts, public safety, and community events.
  • Write compelling news, feature, enterprise, and investigative stories.
  • Help plan the weekly newspaper and daily digital news coverage.
  • Edit stories and assist with the production of the newspaper.
  • Coordinate freelance writers, photographers, and community contributors.
  • Build relationships throughout Boundary County and become a trusted voice in the community.
  • Publish content across print, digital, social media, newsletters, and emerging platforms.

We're Looking For Someone Who
  • Loves breaking news and telling meaningful local stories.
  • Is an exceptional writer and interviewer.
  • Has strong news judgment and attention to detail.
  • Can balance multiple deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom.
  • Enjoys connecting with people and becoming involved in the community.
  • Is comfortable working independently while collaborating with a regional editorial team.
  • Wants to help preserve and strengthen local journalism.

Qualifications

  • Experience covering local government or community news.
  • Editing experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, Communications, English, or a related field preferred, or equivalent newsroom experience.

Compensation & Benefits
  • $23.00 to $26.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
  • Competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, and retirement benefits.
  • Professional development opportunities.
  • Career advancement within Hagadone Communications.
