What you will be doing in this role:

  •  Develop technical luggage, bags, and storage solutions while collaborating on other product categories as needed. 
  • Coordinate with designer and PLM to create in-depth market research to determine market needs and demands.
  • Provide improvements to the development process.
  • Create and maintain sample and development calendar.
  • Manage fittings & fit comments throughout the development process.
  • Manage competitive benchmarking, product features, and product opportunities options.
  • Create development reviews for vendors, this includes identifying changes, next steps, sizing, etc.
  • Negotiate pricing with vendor, review/change BOM to meet pricing targets, create size charts, etc.
  • Solo overseas travel to factories to work on design projects.
  • Other design responsibilities as needed.

How you will thrive in this role:

  • 3-5 years' experience within the product development field.
  • An interest, or active participation, in the powersports industry is HIGHLY PREFERRED.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing practice and methods in the garment industry, including sewing, materials, construction layout, and pattern making.
  • Focus on bags/luggage is preferred.
  • Highly organized, self-starter with the drive to manage vendor partnerships and projects effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively problem solve a variety of issues, while maintaining a solution-based approach. 
  • High proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office. Experience in Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop; project management software is a plus.
  • Broad understanding of the development process, create tech packs, work directly with vendors.
  • Broad understanding of the garment construction, material, and trims.
  • Understanding of materials, structures, functions, and how they can be used in the development process.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the design, manufacturing, and production process.
  • A desire to guide and foster growth in a collaborative team environment within multiple disciplines.
  • Ability to effectively problem solve a variety of issues, while maintaining a solution-based approach.

Physical Requirements:

Position performance will require the regular physical ability to walk and function in elevation changes by the means of self-propulsion, to include steps, ladders, and varied walking and working surfaces. Ability to negotiate warehouse work areas in a safe manner and behavior. Vision abilities specific to the position will include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Performing in this role will require the use of hands to use and handle tools, objects, materials, and controls. Performance requires the frequent ability to sit, talk, hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee will need to be able to read, write, and understand basics of the English language. Employee may have to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and up to 45 pounds assisted or if capable.
