Job description

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support the successful execution of civil construction and site development projects throughout Northern Nevada.
This is a high-growth opportunity for an organized, detail-oriented professional who wants to develop into a future Project Manager. The Project Engineer works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and field teams to help keep projects organized, on schedule, and moving forward.
The ideal candidate is proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working both in the office and in the field. This role offers hands-on exposure to all phases of heavy civil construction, including earthwork, underground utilities, site development, and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Execution

  • Support Project Managers in the day-to-day execution of construction projects.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, coordination, and tracking activities.
  • Help align field operations with project schedules, milestones, and priorities.
  • Follow up on outstanding action items to ensure projects remain on track.

Document Control & Project Administration

  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change documentation, and project records.
  • Track and distribute updated plans, specifications, drawings, and revisions.
  • Maintain organized project files and communication logs.
  • Ensure field personnel always have access to current project information.

Field Support

  • Partner closely with Superintendents and field crews to support efficient project execution.
  • Conduct regular jobsite visits to stay connected with project progress and field operations.
  • Assist with layout coordination, quantity tracking, inspections, and problem-solving.
  • Serve as a communication bridge between field teams and office staff.

Project Tracking & Reporting

  • Monitor installed quantities, production rates, and project progress.
  • Support daily reporting, cost tracking, forecasting, and project controls.
  • Identify potential project risks and communicate issues proactively.
  • Assist with job cost tracking and performance analysis.

Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination

  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Track procurement activities, material deliveries, and lead times.
  • Ensure subcontractors remain aligned with project plans, schedules, and requirements.

Quality & Compliance

  • Assist with quality control processes and inspection coordination.
  • Support project compliance with plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Help maintain accurate project documentation and records.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of construction, engineering, or related industry experience.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications, or the aptitude to learn quickly.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Internship or field experience in heavy civil construction, site development, or earthwork projects.
  • Experience with:
    • RFIs
    • Submittals
    • Change orders
    • Construction documentation processes
  • Familiarity with:
    • Procore
    • HCSS
    • Other construction management software platforms
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
