Their responsibilities often include brainstorming ideas, drafting and editing scripts, and collaborating with directors or producers to meet the project's needs.

What does a freelance script writer do?

As a freelance script writer, your duties vary somewhat depending on the needs of your clients, though for the most part you focus on the writing and editing of scripts for video productions. You can write and pitch a screenplay to an agent, who will attempt to sell it to a film production studio, television studio, or other media production company. Some clients hire freelance script writers to help improve existing scripts as part of a writing team, while advertising agencies and commercial production companies hire scriptwriters to create the scripts for video or audio advertising. If a studio or producer hires you or accepts your script pitch, you work on the project on a contract basis.

Job description

About Orthofeet Inc
Orthofeet is a leading brand in ortho-comfort footwear, trusted by millions of customers for
delivering relief-driven, expertly designed solutions that support healthier movement. Our
mission is to empower people to stay active and comfortable through innovative products that
blend therapeutic performance with everyday style, whether that means easing the daily impact
of arthritis and diabetes or simply keeping a busy, on-the-go life moving without pain.
You'll join a brand with a clear creative mandate and real momentum behind it. We're looking for
someone who brings sharp editorial instincts, thrives on translating culture into on-brand
content, and knows how to use AI to move faster without ever letting it replace their own voice
or judgment. If you're ready to write for a brand that makes a meaningful difference in how
people move through their day, this is your opportunity.
About the role
Orthofeet is looking for a Content Strategist to own the ideation, writing, and creative facilitation
behind our social, ad, and site content. This person is equal parts researcher, writer, and
creative operator. This person can spot a scroll-stopping hook, translate it into on-brand copy
across formats, and move it through production without losing momentum or quality.
This is a hands-on writing role, not a "prompt and paste" role. You'll use AI and listening tools to
work faster and explore more directions, but every script, ad, and page of copy should reflect
your own strategic thinking, voice, and editorial judgment.
What you'll do
• Research & Trend Scouting: Monitor social platforms (TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Meta,
  • etc.) for emerging formats cultural moments relevant to Orthofeet's audience; translate
  • findings into actionable content ideas and hooks.
  • Concepting: Develop original concepts for ads, UGC-style content, and website content
  • from big-picture campaign ideas down to individual hooks, angles, and CTAs.
  • Copywriting: Write copy and scripts for all content needs, including social ads, organic
  • posts, video scripts, landing pages, and other formats as needed.
  • Creative Facilitation & Ops: Partner closely with the Production Manager to move
  • concepts into execution. Brief creative needs, keep projects on schedule, flag blockers,
  • and ensure the final product matches the creative and strategic intent.
  • AI-Assisted Workflow: Use our AI suite strategically to accelerate ideation, drafting,
  • and iteration, while ensuring final copy, tone, and quality meets brand standards. Ability
  • to prompt effectively and edit AI output critically is expected; copy-pasting unedited AI
  • output is not acceptable.
  • Performance Awareness: Stay attuned to what's performing (via creative reporting,
  • comments, engagement, etc.) and iterate on hooks/angles accordingly.
  • Brand Stewardship: Maintain a consistent brand voice across all channels while
  • adapting tone appropriately for each platform and format.onsibilities and job functions of the role

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in social content strategy, copywriting, or a similar
  • content/creative role (agency, brand, or freelance experience all welcome).
  • Proven ability to research social trends and translate them into original, on-brand content
  • ideas and hooks.
  • Strong writing portfolio spanning multiple formats: social ads, organic social
  • captions/scripts, video/UGC scripts, and web or landing page copy.
  • Demonstrated experience using generative AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, or similar)
  • as part of a professional content workflow, with a clear point of view on where AI helps
  • and where human judgment is non-negotiable.
  • Experience collaborating with production, design, or video teams to bring concepts to
  • life; comfortable giving clear creative briefs and feedback.
  • Strong project management instincts. This person is able to juggle multiple content
  • threads, meet deadlines, and proactively communicate status/blockers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote, freelance capacity.
  • Preferred Experience
  • Experience in DTC, e-commerce, health/wellness, or footwear/apparel categories.
  • Familiarity with performance marketing principles (hook rate, thumb-stop ratio, CTR,
  • etc.) and how creative decisions tie to performance.
  • Experience writing for an older or health-conscious demographic alongside younger,
  • trend-driven audiences (Orthofeet serves a broad customer base).
  • Basic familiarity with paid social ad platforms (Meta Ads Manager, TikTok Ads Manager)
  • and how creative is structured for testing.
  • Experience with content calendars, briefing docs, or project management tools (Jira,
  • Notion, etc.).
