Freelance Script Coverage Assistant information

What does a freelance script coverage assistant do?

A Freelance Script Coverage Assistant reads and evaluates screenplays, scripts, or manuscripts, providing written summaries and critical analysis known as 'coverage.' Their reports help producers, agents, and studios quickly assess whether a script is worth further development or investment. Responsibilities often include summarizing the plot, commenting on strengths and weaknesses, and making recommendations. As freelancers, they typically work on a project-by-project basis for production companies, literary agencies, or independent filmmakers.

While both roles involve reviewing scripts, a Freelance Script Coverage Assistant primarily assists with creating detailed coverage reports, including summaries and critiques. A Freelance Script Reader focuses on reading scripts to evaluate their quality and potential, often providing initial feedback. Both roles are remote, freelance, and industry-focused, but differ in their specific responsibilities and output.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a freelance script coverage assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Freelance Script Coverage Assistant, you need strong analytical reading skills, a solid understanding of screenplay structure, and familiarity with industry terminology, often supported by a background in film studies or screenwriting. Proficiency with script formatting software like Final Draft and knowledge of online submission platforms are typically required. Excellent written communication, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver constructive feedback make someone stand out in this position. These skills are crucial for providing valuable insights to producers and writers, helping them assess scripts efficiently and make informed development decisions.

How does a freelance script coverage assistant typically interact with writers, producers, and development teams?

As a Freelance Script Coverage Assistant, you will primarily communicate with development executives, literary managers, or producers rather than directly with writers. Your role is to provide objective assessments and detailed notes on scripts, which help guide industry professionals in their decision-making process. While you may not be involved in face-to-face meetings, your written feedback is a crucial part of the collaborative workflow, and clear, insightful coverage can lead to more assignments or long-term relationships with studios and agencies.

Job title: Corporate Finance Senior Analyst

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Department: Finance

Location: Alpharetta, GA

About Priority Commerce:

Priority Commerce is a leading financial technology company on a mission to deliver a personalized, easy-to-adopt financial toolset that accelerates cash flow and optimizes working capital for businesses. Our vision is to eliminate the barriers to unlocking revenue - empowering businesses to grow faster and operate smarter.

We achieve this through the Priority Commerce Engine, an innovative platform that combines payables, acquiring, and banking and treasury solutions. This unified approach allows businesses to streamline financial operations, reduce unnecessary costs, and uncover new revenue opportunities.

At Priority Commerce, we're driven by results. We expect our people to be known for results - bringing expertise, momentum, and relentless focus to every challenge, helping our clients and each other thrive.

About the Role:

This role is for a Corporate Finance Analyst who will be instrumental in supporting Priority’s strategic finance initiatives, including M&A and capital markets activities. The analyst will focus on building complex financial models and developing investor and sell-side presentations. This position offers a dedicated career progression track and a better quality of life compared to the demands of a traditional investment banking role. You will be a key contributor to the Finance team, translating complex financial data into actionable insights for executive leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Modeling: Build and maintain complex three-statement financial models to forecast revenue, expenses, and cash flow including scenario analysis for M&A and capital markets transactions.

  • Strategic Support: Evaluate investment proposals, potential acquisitions or divestitures, and new business opportunities.

  • Executive Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial presentations for senior leadership and the Board of Directors.

  • Investor Relations: Assist in the preparation of quarterly earnings call scripts, financial reports, press releases and investor presentations; gather and analyze financial data to benchmark performance against peers and market trends.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Financial models and forecasts are consistently accurate, reliable, and owned end-to-end.

  • Strategic evaluations of M&A and new opportunities consistently provide clear, data-driven recommendations that inform C-Suite decision-making.

  • Executive and investor presentations are clear, compelling, and effectively translate complex financial data into actionable strategic narratives.

  • Reporting, including earnings materials, is delivered with consistency and precision, reinforcing internal and external trust in the company's financial story.

Candidate Requirements:

Required

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field.

  • Experience: 2–4 years of experience in corporate finance, investment banking, or leveraged finance, including financial statement and cash flow modeling, Board level presentations and equity analysis.

  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and financial ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite). Experience in financial planning applications is a plus (e.g., Planful, Adaptive Planning, OneStream).

  • Analytical Power: Strong data interpretation skills with the ability to turn raw numbers into strategic narratives.

  • Communication: Clear verbal and written skills to present complex financial data to non-finance stakeholders.

Work Environment & Culture:

We believe that performance and experience go hand in hand - an exceptional employee experience is earned through contribution. We are a results-driven team, grounded in our core values: ownership, authenticity, service, trust, innovation, and camaraderie.

Our culture is built for those who want to make an impact. We challenge each other to grow, celebrate progress, and support one another through shared goals and real connection. Whether you're building technology, serving clients, or supporting internal teams, you’ll be part of a company that empowers you to perform at your best and be known for results.

Benefits:

We invest in the whole employee - personally and professionally. Our benefits package is designed to support your well-being, growth, and success - both inside and outside of work.

  • 401(k) match

  • Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP)
