Job description

We are looking for a Product Production Designer for a top entertainment company to join their team out of their NYC offices! This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic & small consumer product team that designs, creates and sells souvenir merchandise for theatrical productions. This role is execution-focused, with an emphasis on creating production-ready design files and supporting day-to-day creative operations. This is an onsite role requiring close collaboration with leadership and internal teams, as well as coordination with freelance designers.
  • $42-45/hour
  • Monday - Thursday: In Office
  • Friday: Remote
Responsibilities:
  • Participate in new product development process by attending creative concepts and planning meetings both with internal stakeholders and freelancers to develop both new show assortments and new collections & products within existing productions. (15%/6 hours)
  • Collaborate with Product Development Manager and the Merchandise Product freelancers to consolidate design concepts, communicate feedback/edits and ensure alignment through approval stages.
  • Create and produce supplier-ready technical packs for all new products to improve supplier's understanding of product concepts and expediate sampling process.
  • Design and implement brand packaging for new and existing properties.
  • Vectorize and clean up designer files to prepare for product creation.
  • Create and finalize design presentations for Creative, Executive, and Licensed merchandise initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of relevant experience (not entry-level)
  • Demonstrated experience creating final production files (not just concept work)
  • Strong communication skills - able to relay feedback clearly and professionally
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven experience in product production design within the consumer goods sector.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, with advanced expertise in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Familiarity with current AI tools in the design and product concepting area, and the ability to navigate Disney's specific requirements and restrictions in their application.
  • Strong production and technical skills to develop production-ready files for vendors, including technical packaging and color-ready files (CMYK vs RGB).
  • Proven knowledge of color theory and matching, with the capability to suggest colors and translate them from digital files to physical products.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to effectively work within a team and manage external partnerships.
