Job description

Standard Job Description
The RF Test Engineer will plan, execute, and document RF antenna and system-level testing in laboratory and anechoic chamber environments. Responsibilities include developing test plans and detailed procedures, configuring and calibrating RF test equipment and data-acquisition systems, collecting and analyzing measurement data, and verifying results against system requirements. The engineer will apply knowledge of antenna measurements and calibration techniques to ensure accurate, repeatable, and traceable results. Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting test configurations, coordinating test activities with cross-functional teams, and generating clear technical reports that document test methods, results, anomalies, and conclusions
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related STEM field with 5+ years of experience, or Master's degree (MS) with 3+ years of experience
  • Extensive hands-on experience measuring antenna performance metrics, including radiation patterns, gain, directivity, polarization (axial ratio), efficiency, and S-parameters (VSWR, Return Loss)
  • Practical experience operating and configuring RF anechoic chambers, including far-field, near-field (spherical, planar, cylindrical), and compact antenna test ranges (CATR)
  • Demonstrated capability to translate high-level system requirements into structured, executable RF test plans and resource schedules
  • Experience authoring rigorous, step-by-step test procedures that comply with aerospace, defense, or commercial standards (e.g., IEEE, military standards)
  • Strong technical writing skills to generate clear, data-driven test reports, complete with pass/fail criteria verification, anomaly investigations, and root-cause analysis (RCA)
  • Proven ability to lead testing activities with minimal guidance, troubleshoot complex measurement setups, and mentor junior technical staff

Desired Skills
  • Mastery of RF system calibration techniques, including Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) calibrations (SOLT, TRL), chamber path loss characterization, reference antenna substitution methods, and measurement uncertainty analysis
  • Proficiency in utilizing automated test software (e.g., Orbit/FR, NSI-MI, Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz) and writing or modifying scripts (Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW) to collect, parse, and analyze massive RF datasets

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $110300.00 - $204900.00
