Job description


Position Summary
The onsite Quality Manager leads the implementation of the site Quality Management Plan, establishes inspection controls, verifies compliance with approved construction documents and manufacturer requirements, directs the field quality team, maintains auditable records needed to support mechanical completion, substantial completion and final completion and leads non-conformance investigations.
Key Responsibilities
  •  Attend job construction meetings
  • Review drawings, submittals, and spec sheets with Quality Team prior to starting new phases of work
  • Update Inspection and Testing Plans based on project requirements
  • Update Quality Inspection templates based on project requirements
  • Follow company-wide safety practices, policies, and training
  • Promote a culture of quality and safety on site
  • Review subcontractor quality plans, personnel, SOPs, and calibrated equipment for compliance with our QMS and provide details on areas of non-conformance
  • Direct inspection coverage for construction activities
  • Review, approve, and submit inspection reports per contract requirements
  • Perform quality inspections as necessary
  • Review, classify, investigate, and track non-conformances
  • Analyze defect trends, NCR aging, repeat findings, and rework drivers to recommend preventative actions
  • Oversee and/or witness torque marks and commissioning tests
  • Identify and control Critical to Quality (CTQ) activities
  • Verify that on-site execution complies with engineering, technical specifications, regulations, and contractual requirements
  • Ensure document control and traceability on site
  • Support the preparation of the final quality project close-out process.
  • Liaison with external parties, including contractors and stakeholders, on matters relating to the organization's QMS
  • Ensures the awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization
  • Coordinates audits, both internal and external, to ascertain compliance with set quality standards
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives within the project
  • Develops and publishes quality reports
  • Schedules and/or conducts training for quality personnel
  • Tracks training requirements
  • Conducts quality meetings with internal and external shareholders
Requirements
  • Minimum 5+ years of quality control/inspection management on utility scale solar projects
  • Comfortable climbing ladders up to 12 feet
  • Current valid driver’s license required and insurable driving record
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (phone and email)
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the ability to become proficient in Procore, SiteDocs, BlueBeam and additional software as necessary
  • Working knowledge of applicable requirements such as NEC, NESC, IEEE, ASTM, IEC, NFPA, and project-specific quality standards
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, installation manuals, and diagrams for project execution
  • Clear communicator who maintains a calm, professional demeanor in all situations
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Must be 18 years or older
Preferred Certifications
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification
  • NABCEP PV Installation Professional, PV Commissioning & Maintenance Specialist, or comparable solar credential
  • ISO 9001 internal or lead auditor training
  • NICET, electrical inspection, concrete, thermography, or other relevant discipline certification
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • NFPA-70e certification
Physical Demands
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Frequent walking on uneven terrain and active construction sites.
  • Climb stairs and ladders when required.
  • Travel throughout the project site.
  • Sit or stand for extended periods while using a computer and mobile devices.
