Project Manager, Security 

Description

Location:

This is a 100% remote position. The position may be hybrid if the employee is local, in the San Diego, California region.

Hybrid work model: 60% on-site as needed, 40% remote.

General Summary:

The Project Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of Security and IT infrastructure projects. The incumbent in this role will efficiently meet project safety, quality, schedule, and cost goals, while managing internal and external stakeholders across multiple business units. This position will work with multiple departments and processes to support work execution, problem solving, planning, and process improvement. The Project Manager will proactively lead and facilitate teams through issues and is responsible for the efficient execution of work items and conditions of the areas in which they are assigned.

Supervision Level:

Reports to Director, Network Communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages and oversees all aspects of a project to ensure it is completed on time and within budget.
  • Responsible for managing scope, cost, schedule, vendors, and contractual deliverables.
  • Develops detailed project plans, monitors project milestones, and generates status reports.
  • Evaluates and manages risk; incorporates quality measures and standards into project deliverables.
  • Manages several project workstreams.
  • Directs project progress and establishes administrative guidance on project execution.
  • Monitors project budgets and develops monthly variance reports.
  • Qualifies and quantifies project issues and risks and develops response plans to resolve.
  • Understands current and future business goals and ongoing concerns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
     

Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience:

  • Project Manager I: A minimum of 3 years of project management experience.
  • Project Manager II: A minimum of 5 years of project management experience.
    • In addition to project management experience, a minimum of 3 years of relevant or related industry experience.

A combination of experience, education, and/or training which demonstrates the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Experience with managing small through large-scale technology infrastructure projects, including network routing, switching, servers, intelligent end-point devices, inside/outside plans, physical security, wireless and fiber buildouts from inception through completion.
  • Experience with voice/data, Wi-Fi, access controls, security, circuit test and turn-up, and/or any low-voltage deployment desired.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders, scheduling demands, and ad-hoc requests
  • Experience in construction phasing and understanding low voltage dependencies within large-scale construction projects.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; skillset will be evaluated prior to engagement.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, planning, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, low voltage drawings, and specification sheets.

Knowledge of:

  • Research methods, including data collection, analysis, critical thinking, and problem solving.
  • Project planning, scheduling, cost management, budget forecasting, and risk qualification, quantification, and mitigation.
  • Principles and practices of project management as defined by Project Management Institute (PMI) or accredited standards.
  • Agile and Scrum project management methodologies.
  • Safe working practices, building codes, and regulations applicable to the assigned projects.
  • MS Office Suite, MS Project, Primavera (P6), JIRA, or equivalent project planning tools.

Ability to:

  • Work well under pressure.
  • Influence others and convey complex project and program deliverables concisely.
  • Manage subcontractors, vendors, and installation teams to ensure alignment with technical specifications and project timelines.
  • Work in a dynamic, fast-moving team environment and independently as needed.

Physical Demands:

Physical demands are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. In delivering projects, the incumbent will work in and around high voltage, energized electric equipment.

  • Sit or stand at a desk and use a computer workstation for up to 6 hours per day.
  • Reach and use hands and fingers to feel objects or controls.
  • Climb stairs and walk on uneven or unpaved surfaces.
  • Traverse inclined or rough terrain.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

Salary:

The salary range for this role is $80,000 – $125,000. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in San Diego, CA. This is the lowest to highest pay scale we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
