Senior Staff Civil/Geotechnical Engineer


Delve Underground has an immediate opening for a Civil/Geotechnical Engineer with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience to join our Columbus, Ohio team delivering tunnels, underground, and water infrastructure projects. Preferably, the ideal candidate will have either academic or prior work experience in one or more of the following areas: civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, excavation support, seismic analyses, rock mechanics, or trenchless technologies.


Responsibilities:

  • Geotechnical design and reporting (engineering, data, and baseline reports).
  • Support geotechnical investigation programs including planning, permitting, implementation, data reporting, and writing interpretative reports.
  • Stability analysis and retaining wall/excavation support design.
  • Seismic response analysis, such as liquefaction analysis and ground deformation analysis.
  • Assist with tunnel and shaft design.
  • Work under the direction of senior engineers, who provide technical oversight and review.
  • Work on a variety of office and field assignments.
  • Development of drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical memoranda that present the basis of design.
  • Work as integral member of a team on complex, multi-discipline projects.
  • Demonstrate good writing and communications skills and ability to communicate with internal staff and clients.

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Geotechnical/Civil or Geological Engineering.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification or ability to obtain in 6 months.
  • Completion of relevant coursework or experience in several of the following: geotechnical engineering, soil and rock mechanics, subsurface investigation methods, foundation engineering, and finite element analysis.
  • Ability to manage a number of concurrent assignments and priorities.
  • Field experience on trenchless or tunneling project is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and technical communication skills.
  • Willingness to work in the field and travel for short-term assignments to remote locations.
  • Drivers license required.
