Job description

Data Science Manager – Financial Services & Real Estate

Chicago or NYC (hybrid schedule - 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

We focus on data-driven questions that matter to our business and can be solved through the application of data analysis, statistics, and computer programming – and are looking for someone to manage this team, while driving solutions that impact business decisions. We develop insights through alternative datasets and analytical methods to help fill in gaps in our understanding of specific assets, markets, and macroeconomic themes. We leverage geospatial, demographic, and economic data, as well as advanced analytics to evaluate live real estate deals across sectors and geographies. In other words, we sit at the intersection of quantitative and investment analysis. If you enjoy fast-paced, stimulating, quantitative work with a tangible business impact, we may be a good fit for you. The ideal candidate is an experienced economist, statistician, data scientist, or equity researcher who has experience studying and identifying macroeconomic themes and understanding their impact on asset performance. The individual needs to be intellectually curious and passionate about solving real-world questions using data. Working for one of the world's largest owners of real estate, you will have the opportunity to raise the bar for physical asset investing.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Analyze the drivers of asset performance to help the firm make better investment decisions
  • Study and identify macroeconomic themes and understand what they mean for our business
  • Forecast relevant metrics for our portfolio and investment strategy
  • Prepare visualizations that effectively communicate trends and predictions using relevant data
  • Draft opinions on data-driven conclusions that will be shared with executive leadership
  • Develop a deep understanding of multifamily investment, finance, and operations

What You Should Have

  • 5+ years of experience with Data Science, Quantitative Analysis or other relevant roles
  • 2+ years of experience leading and/or managing data science teams and solutions
  • Proficiency with R, or similar tools for predictive analytics
  • Proficiency with SQL
  • Experience working in financial services and/or real estate

Nice To Have Experience

  • Experience identifying macro-economic trends through your analysis
  • Experience working with data in cloud-based data warehouses – we use Snowflake primarily
  • Experience creating dashboards and reports with Power BI – we have other team members that focus on this but if you can contribute in this area as well, bonus points to you
