To research and write speeches, remarks, quotes, video messages, presentations and other communications for the Office of the President, the Office of the Provost and other senior university officials as directed. To maintain awareness of key institutional rankings, facts and data, and identify sources and gather information from printed material and interviews with University faculty and staff, institutions, organizations and individuals as appropriate in order to write speeches or prepare other media/content as required by the President or Provost. To lead development of content and graphics for presentations and other key institutional priority initiatives. To work closely with and to conduct special research at the request of the Chief Communications Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Researches, writes and edits various forms of communications specifically for the President
and the Provost.
2. Assists executives in preparation for delivery of speeches, talking points and questions.
3. Keeps abreast of campus events, current events, and copyright laws to provide the most
accurate communications as they relate to UAB and UAB's relationship in local and national
matters.
4. Attends meetings and events with senior university officials.
5. Leads development of slide decks and other materials and resources for executive speeches and
presentations and key institutional priority initiatives.
6. Coordinates with event contacts on logistical and audio-visual matters regarding executive
speeches and presentations delivered on campus and externally.
7. Maintains awareness of key institutional rankings, facts and data.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Range: $77,640 - $105,000
This position is located onsite in Birmingham, AL with no option for remote work.
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications or a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
