What is a freelance Power Query?

Freelance Power Query professionals are independent experts who specialize in using Microsoft's Power Query tool to transform, clean, and analyze data for clients on a project basis. They work with organizations or individuals to automate data processes, build complex queries, and integrate data from multiple sources, often within Excel or Power BI environments. These freelancers typically offer flexible services, helping businesses improve efficiency and gain insights from their data without hiring full-time staff.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a freelance Power Query specialist?

To thrive as a Freelance Power Query specialist, you need strong skills in data transformation, advanced Excel, and Power BI, often supported by certifications like Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate. Familiarity with Power Query Editor, M language, and other data integration tools is essential. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and client management abilities help you deliver tailored solutions and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. These competencies ensure you can efficiently translate complex data requirements into actionable insights, adding significant value to clients' business processes.

Job description

Job Description
Job Summary:
The Head of Growth Marketing leads Blossom's marketing function end to end, working AI-natively and building and managing a team. This role is centered on growth, with marketing as a supporting function. The core responsibility is to build a measurable, trackable pipeline of qualified leads by systematically reaching every credit union in the country, then expanding into adjacent businesses across Blossom's market - pursuing both net-new prospects and expansion within our existing customer base, spanning B2B (B2FI) sales to institutions and B2B2C outreach to the member-facing products those institutions offer their own customers. The Head of Growth Marketing owns the full digital marketing and revenue-operations stack - social, rev ops, SEO, GEO, content, paid, email, events, website, and analytics - executing directly and through the team. It requires fluency in AI marketing tools and agentic workflows, along with a strong understanding of how to optimize visibility across both traditional search engines and AI platforms (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini). The role is evaluated on how effectively the team's campaigns and events generate leads and move pipeline forward, with day-to-day responsibilities including setting team priorities and reviewing output, creating content, building workflows, shipping campaigns, and iterating against pipeline outcomes - all delivered to a high standard of excellence, polished and publish-ready.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Directly manage a team by setting priorities and workload, and providing day-to-day guidance and oversight.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and ongoing development of marketing team members as the function grows.
  • Manage relationships with freelance writers, designers, or agencies as needed.

Duties/ Responsibilities:
Team & Marketing Leadership
  • Lead the marketing team, setting strategy and priorities, reviewing output, and holding the team to a high standard of excellence.

Pipeline & Demand Generation
  • Build and own Blossom's lead generation engine end to end, delivering a measurable, trackable pipeline of qualified leads by systematically reaching every credit union in the United States, then expanding into other businesses within Blossom's addressable market --- pursuing both net-new prospects and expansion within the existing customer base, across B2B (B2FI) sales to institutions and B2B2C outreach to the member-facing products those institutions offer their own customers.
  • Drive top-of-funnel demand generation through integrated campaigns, landing pages, gated content, and nurture flows tracked in HubSpot.

Revenue Operations & Analytics
  • Direct core revenue operations for marketing --- lead scoring and routing, pipeline and funnel reporting, and CRM data integrity, ensuring a clean handoff of qualified leads to sales.
  • Own the marketing analytics dashboard --- web traffic, leads, MQLs, campaign ROI, social performance, and content effectiveness --- and maintain tracking across GA4, LinkedIn Insights, HubSpot, and other platforms; report insights to leadership.

AI & Marketing Technology
  • Deploy and manage AI marketing tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Jasper, HubSpot AI, Perplexity) and agentic workflows --- including automated lead nurturing, AI-powered content pipelines, and multi-step campaign automations --- to build and continuously improve systems that allows a lean team to produce the output of a much larger department; stay current on emerging tools and proactively bring recommendations and test results to the team.
  • Implement Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and AI-discoverability strategies --- structured data markup, E-E-A-T signals, authoritative sourcing, and conversational query alignment --- to ensure Blossom surfaces in AI-generated answers on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, and similar platforms.

Brand & Product Marketing
  • Own Blossom's brand system --- voice, messaging, and visual standards --- ensuring consistency across web, content, social, and sales materials.
  • Own product positioning and messaging across Core, Digital, and Cards/Swipe; maintain competitive intelligence on Fiserv, Jack Henry, Q2, and other core/digital banking competitors, and translate it into sales-facing assets --- pitch decks, one-pagers, battle cards, and RFP boilerplate.

Content & SEO
  • Plan and produce a consistent content calendar --- blog posts, thought leadership articles, whitepapers, and case studies --- tailored to credit union and fintech audiences; own and maintain the editorial calendar, writing, publishing, and distributing content directly.
  • Repurpose long-form content into social snippets, email campaigns, short-form video scripts, and other channel-specific assets.
  • Conduct keyword research and on-page SEO optimization; oversee technical SEO basics in coordination with the engineering team.
  • Own blossom.net and all of its content end to end: page updates, copywriting, conversion optimization, SEO, new page builds, and performance monitoring; ensure the site always reflects the current state of the product.

Social Media
  • Own Blossom's LinkedIn presence end to end --- company page management, organic content calendar, employee advocacy programs, and paid LinkedIn campaigns targeting credit union decision-makers --- and manage and grow other social channels (X/Twitter and others) with a consistent brand voice and platform-specific content strategy.

Email & Lifecycle Marketing
  • Direct email marketing campaigns and automated drip sequences in CRM; set testing priorities for subject lines, content, and CTAs.

Paid Media & Budget
  • Plan, manage, and execute paid advertising and performance marketing across channels; test creative and targeting, read the data, and reallocate spend to maximize pipeline contribution.
  • Own the marketing department budget --- plan, forecast, and manage spend across paid, tools, events, and freelance/agency resources; report budget performance to leadership.

Events
  • Own Blossom's events strategy and calendar --- webinars, conferences, credit union trade shows, and field events evaluating the pipeline contribution and ROI of each event.

Customer Marketing & Advocacy
  • Build and run a customer reference and advocacy program (testimonials and referenceable customers for sales); manage co-marketing initiatives with credit union partners; own Blossom Mag / Blossom News newsletter content and cadence.

PR, Analyst Relations & Reputation
  • Manage PR and media relations with credit union and fintech trade press (CUInsight, CU Today, American Banker) and build relationships with industry analysts (Celent, Cornerstone Advisors) to secure coverage, briefings, and analyst mentions.
  • Manage Blossom's presence and reputation on third-party review platforms (G2, Gartner Peer Insights, and similar), driving customer reviews and ratings to strengthen credibility with prospective institutions.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/ Abilities:
  • Proven people-management skills, with the ability to set priorities, delegate effectively, and coach a small, cross-functional team (events, CRM/rev ops, and general marketing support) to a high standard.
  • Exceptional organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment.
  • A growth mindset with a proven track record of tying marketing activity directly to measurable pipeline and revenue outcomes.
  • Analytical mindset: comfortable building dashboards, interpreting attribution data, and presenting performance insights to leadership.
  • Real, hands-on performance marketing experience --- planning, launching, and optimizing paid campaigns across channels and translating the data into spend decisions.
  • Proficiency with HubSpot (or equivalent CRM/marketing automation platform) and working knowledge of rev ops fundamentals: lead scoring and routing, CRM/pipeline management, and marketing-to-sales handoff.
  • Demonstrated, practical fluency with AI marketing tools and GEO/AI-visibility strategies --- able to show the specific automations, agents, or AI-discoverability work you have built, not just awareness.
  • Proven hands-on experience with LinkedIn marketing --- both organic growth and paid campaigns.
  • Fluency with CMS platforms, website management, and on-page SEO; comfortable making updates and building pages without engineering support.
  • Outstanding written American English and excellent verbal communication skills, with a strong eye for design and the ability to produce polished, audience-appropriate, publish-ready drafts for approval independently.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and quick to learn new marketing and enterprise applications.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of hands-on B2B and B2B2C account based digital marketing experience with a demonstrated focus on lead generation and pipeline growth - for both net-new customer acquisition and expansion within an existing customer base - including at least 2 years directly managing marketing staff; fintech, SaaS, or financial services strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrable portfolio or work samples showing content, campaigns, and/or social media results.
  • Experience marketing to credit unions, community banks, or financial institutions (preferred).
  • Familiarity with agentic marketing or automation platforms such as Make, n8n, or Zapier + AI (preferred).

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Occasional travel.
